There was no response, and just as it seemed like he wasn't home the door swung open.
"Oh Anthonyyyyy!" Ryuu slurred with a dumb grin on his face, one hand clasping the top of the door frame so he could slump forward without falling. A half empty bottle of wine swung lazily in his other hand, spilling some of its contents now and then. There was a drunk blush on his smiling face, and he smelled heavily of alcohol. "What'ssssssssss up?"

Anthony's sunglasses nearly slipped off his head, saved last minute by his hands pushing them back up. He blinked twice, shocked by the sight of his old friend, drunk as a skunk, then fought his urge to slap him and walked closer. "Well, you're going to bed," he said, wrapping his arms around the arm holding the bottle and trying to tug him towards the bedroom, or at least the couch.

Ryuu followed Anthony, but refused to give up his drink. He pulled his arm back so he could keep the bottle close to him, smiling all the while. "No waaaaaaaay! I'm gonna drink all... night... LONG!!!!" he laughed loudly. Suddenly, he gasped and looked at Anthony with wide, veiled eyes. "Hey! Why don't you drink with me??? Yeah!! Yeah, it'll be fun!" he cheered.

Anthony grimaced as the drunk man's breath hit him, visibly disgusted. He gently pushed Ryuu away in disgust, shaking his head. "No thanks, I don't like drinking on an empty stomach." He reached out, shutting the door before moving towards the couch. "Why don't you at least sit down while i make some coffee?"

Ryuu sputtered with laughter then plopped down on the couch. "Anthony's making coffeeeeeee! Like my wife or something." he giggled as he buried his face in one of the couch pillows. The table was littered with cans of beer, both half full and crushed empty.

F-ck, how much had Ryuu had to drink? After starting the coffee maker, Anthony walked back over to the musician, kneeling in front of him. "Okay, let's get you into a shower, maybe clean you up. Then you can come back out and drink, okay?" He stood up, trying to pull Ryuu up with him.

His smile changed to an impatient frown, and Ryuu waved Anthony away. "Just let me drink, dammit!" he snapped. He slumped forward, shaking his head for a moment, then leaned back and drank more of his wine, nearly finishing the entire bottle. "You gonna drink with me or not?" he then asked Anthony.

Drink what? Ryuu had clearly already emptied out his fridge and liquor cabinet! But with a sigh, Anthony reluctantly sat beside the man and set his hand son his lap, starting at the floor awkwardly. "So, uh.... You gonna tell me what happened?" he asked after a couple minutes of silence.

Ryuu leaned forward again and rested his arms against his knees, glowering at the floor. "I tried to win Ken over, but lost. Isn't that funny?" he snorted with laughter, though it was clear he was angry at the same time. "That damn Bae... He's such a freak and I still lost to him! I must be a real loser, huh???" he leaned back in his seat to laugh openly then grabbed the nearest can of beer and chugged what was left of it.

Of course. It always came back to Kenshin. Suppressing the urge to roll his eyes, he leaned back on the couch cushion. "You're not a loser, Ryoichi. You're in love. It's never easy. If it was, everyone would do it." He reached out, setting a hand on the man's shoulder. "I know it hurts. You can drink yourself numb if you want, I'll stay here with you so you aren't alone."

Ryuu shrugged off Anthony's hand. "No. No-ho-ho, I'm a loser all right. I tried everything to get Ken to feel the same, or to at least get Bae away from him. And all I got was a punch to the stomach." He smiled bitterly then glanced over his shoulder at Anthony. "I bet you never have this problem."

"I wouldn't say that." Anthony shook his head, setting his forearms on his knees and hunching over. "I've been in love with the same person for years and they barely even notice me. I'm just a friend, good for heartbreak and laughter. I don't think they even know that I've been dealing with their rejection for this long." He sighed, then leaned back on the couch and closed his eyes. "At least Kenshin talks to you, Ryoichi. I'm only worth speaking to whenever my love needs something, be it comfort or a drinking buddy. Talk about a punch to the stomach."

"You deal with it better than I do, then." hiccuped Ryuu. He glanced at Anthony, or at least one of them. "Talks? Please. He barely talks to me unless there's something he wants or needs advice on what the band should do. I don't even give a crap about the sh-tty band. I'm almost thirty. Eventually I leave it and take over my dad's company. Both are hell to me."

Anthony sighed, choosing not to acknowledge his own misfortune further. Instead, he set his hand on Ryuu's arm and tugged a little. "Then come with me to New York." His flight was in a few hours, so hopefully, he'd be able to make it on time. He had expected only to come in and say hello, not comfort a drunken, heartbroken man. "Not forever, just for a little while. Just long enough to get out of this funk you're in. I have a spare room in my apartment you can stay in, and you won't have to see them together. Unless you'd rather stay here and remain miserable and drunk."

Ryuu looked at Anthony for a moment then shook his head. "What would we do there? You've got work, don't you? You shouldn't have to babysit me." he grumbled.
