xxxxx"I said Cirque du Soleil, that's crazy. Brothers is even crazier. Loca is Spanish for crazy. You'd know that if you knew the song Livin' La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin, dearie," Tasso muttered under his breath while glancing back at Melinda still holding onto his back. She was so easy to read it wasn't funny. All he had to do was pay attention to the small flickers of other emotions distorting her calm aura and he'd respond to it. "Don't worry about me dropping you. I've carried people who weigh ten times more than your fifty pounds as nothing but dead weight and never dropped them so carrying you is like carrying a paperclip."
xxxxx"She just wanted to see how well-toned your chest was," Rune teased with a slight chuckle only to dodge yet another kick swung at his head. What he didn't expect, however, was the other foot coming at him in a quick spin that made him fall forwards. He caught himself in a roll at the last minute, fortunately enough, although Tasso had caught himself and Melinda's added weight in a slight crouch then started onwards once more. Rubbing the back of his head, Rune, jogged to keep up with the younger male's pace. "I was kidding, sheesh. I'd like to play this Twister game you've mentioned. If Tasso plays though, he isn't allowed to use the shadows to cheat."
xxxxx"As if I'd need to cheat, old man. Told you I could hold you just fine... We are definitely here on serious business although he's trying to make me seem like a normal teenager who cares about making friends and going to dances and whatnot," Tasso muttered with a slight hint of irritability to his voice although it was pretty obvious it was directed at Rune. Blowing a stray hair out of his face, he noted the various people who were hanging about so nonchalantly outside only to roll his eyes at their behavior. Not-so-private schools, such as the one who taught children from birth all the things Rune and him knew, and all of their students were so lame. "I got that feeling from you so I'm not too surprised you admitted to it. Your legs shaking ever so slightly is something you obviously have a habit of not really noticing though. Besides, you promised to go with me to the dance or whatever so I don't need you getting lost and me ending up being there stag. I believe the saying was "that's so not cool" or something along those lines; not that I care."
xxxxxSmiling lightly to himself, Rune lightly tapped Melinda on the shoulder and held up a piece of paper that read a somewhat translated version of how Tasso was behaving. It read; What I really meant to say is I'm sorry for the way I am. I never meant to be so cold to you. I'm sorry 'bout all the lies. Maybe in a different life, you can see me stand on my own again 'cause now I can see. You are the antidote that got me by, something strong like a drug that got me high. I never really wanted you to see the screwed up side of me that I keep locked inside of me so deep. It always seems to get to me. I never really wanted you to go, so many things you should have known. I guess for me there's just no... This is his gentle side, y'know, minus trying to kick me that is. At the bottom was a scribbled smiley face that seemed to match Rune's cheerful smile.

Melinda gave Tasso a lazy half-frown at his own translation, a small sigh escaping her. For once, she regret not having become a music enthusiast herself, just so there would perhaps be one less thing he could insult her with. Though his next statement did provide some reassurance. Well, it was at least more reassuring than most anything else he said to her. But she was a bit curious as to what situation he had been in where he had to carry someone that weighed ten times more than her.
Melinda's cheeks suddenly grew a bright red at Rune's little tease, and she looked back at him with furrowed brows and a frown that bubbled over into a small laugh, though she tried to hold it back. "I-I did not!" she tried to argue, rather unsuccessfully on her part. She didn't want to encourage more teasing like that. Taz might just drop her on purpose if he thought she was trying to molest him.
She was brought out of her laugh by another one of Taz's roundhouse kicks, her grip instinctively tightening with a small squeak from her. As much as she knew he could handle carrying her, she wasn't used to the surprise of his sudden actions. She wasn't quite sure what had happened, but she felt through Taz him hit Rune before Taz caught himself, along with herself on his back, and started on his way again. And despite the shock she felt that he had done that, she couldn't help but feel a bit of awe, too. To be able to successfully hit him like that without even lifting a finger, it was pretty amazing. But maybe Taz didn't find it as amusing as she did. Then again, perhaps that was his own way of expressing embarrassment over that statement? Or maybe it was just annoyance, nothing else. Melinda shrugged it off.
It was no surprise to her that Rune popped right back up, virtually unscathed. He had already been thrown from a balcony by Taz. This should be nothing compared to that. She was relieved to hear Rune was interested in one of the games, the one she was more familiar with, fortunately. She had never really understood Monopoly. But what she didn't understand even more now were these 'shadows'.
Hearing Taz's response, it didn't exactly sound like a refusal to play, which was enough to satisfy her. "Well there's no reason you can't make the best of it while you're here, ne? It could be a good memory anyway, if you try to think about it that way." She grinned sheepishly and shrugged, not paying much attention to the other students in the schoolyard. If she caught any of them glancing over at their situation, it would probably be rather embarrassing in her eyes. And though he said he didn't care about the dance or much anything else about the school, he had to at least care a little bit. Or she just liked to believe so. And that thought only made her grin widen. She wouldn't tell him though. No doubt, he'd probably deny it, and maybe even change his mind about going to the dance. And she was already too excited to let him do that.
"What exactly are the shadows, anyway?" she asked, keeping her voice down a bit just in case it was one of those 'confidential' subjects. Taz had already explained a bit about the Shadow Roads and such to her, but these 'shadows' still felt foreign, though they must have had some connection.
Feeling a tap at her shoulder, Melinda looked over her shoulder questioningly at Rune before he lifted a piece of paper with writing on it. She blinked at it, then quickly read over it. At first, she didn't quite understand it. Then she caught onto it a bit. It had some rhythm to it. Song lyrics, perhaps? Melinda beamed at Rune with a wide grin, suppressing a giggle as to not attract the attention of Taz. Chances were he wouldn't like this either. Rune really did help her out a lot though. Even his little smiley face cheered her up and restored her confidence again. If it weren't for him, she would think Taz hated her. But it was hard to tell what Taz felt about anything. Like he said, he wasn't really close to anyone. As far as she knew, there was no one that could truly decipher him.

xxxxx"Well, the shadows are very simple and yet very intricate at the same time. Most people just think of them as when light hits a solid object and the light is obstructed from getting through that solid object. You have a shadow that takes your shape albeit changes depending on how the light hits you, ne? Well, to Tasso, the cait sidhe and few other species, it's a doorway into a realm of complete darkness. With just this dim shadow trailing beside us, he can enter that realm if he wanted to and come up elsewhere even if it's out of the same shadow and yet it won't just look like he's in water. He can make it to where it looks really freaky. I thought he'd broken his arm once because of what he can do," Rune started to explain to the girl's confusion, his smile making it apparent that he was more than likely going to tease the two about how she had gripped Tasso earlier for some time because of her reaction. He even took the time to briefly point at the light shadow of Tasso carrying Melinda that was trailing along beside the two along with part of his own shadow so she could take to mind what he was speaking of. Glancing up at the two once again, his smile had become slightly serious.
xxxxx"To put it in simpler words, as this Twister game goes on, should one of us cast a shadow, he will consider it cheating if I were to partially slide into the shadows to do anything. The 'shadows' is just the shorthand way of speaking of the Shadow Roads. Considering he's mentioning the use of shadows, my guess is that this game of Twister has to deal with the body which would give me access to the shadows. I've never played it before. I've played various card games with him and other people when they were healing and I had nothing else to do, but you can't really cheat with the shadows with that," Tasso finished with a slight huff. That Romanian just loved dragging out explanations. Just spit it out and move on. She must've still thought they were born into the business of the circus folk since she didn't really run off when he'd basically told her they were ninja assassins. That thought made him roll his eyes.
xxxxx"Somehow a good memory can end up a bad one... Especially with me around... Either way, it doesn't matter. Just a stupid thought on my part. I'm surprised I actually said something stupid... Ugh... I was right about stupidity being contagious," the oddly colored eye mumbled lightly although he sounded somewhat distant and hollow as he had earlier. He then gave a slight shake of his head while shifting his arms holding onto the girl's legs. Rune softly chimed in albeit more to himself than to Melinda or Taz, "That's a first. He's never mentioned anything good turning bad with him around before... Could it be the incident with that clan?"
xxxxxIt was then that Taz paused in walking and turned slightly to where he was shooting Rune a sharp glare. "It's none of your business what I was talking about. Mention it again, buddy, and I'll make sure you'll be swallowing your teeth." Starting to walk again, the way his fingers were lightly shifting uncomfortably signaled that Rune had mentioned something he shouldn't have.

Melinda looked towards Rune as he explained, feeling as though she was receiving a lesson from a genuine teacher. Well, she hadn't exactly been to a standard school in a good while, so she really didn't know. But to her, Rune actually could be a good teacher. Even as she listened now, he explained it well to her, though Taz seemed rather impatient about it, which was to be expected of him. Earlier, he had just wanted to clean the ballroom and get out as soon as possible. But Melinda herself was not so fond of rushing. Her gaze wandered down to their shadow as Rune gestured to it, and while she knew what kind of position she was in, it still came as somewhat of a surprise to see it for herself, not to mention a bit embarrassing. It looked as though she was completely attached to Tasso, latching onto his shoulders and hunched onto his back like she really was a panda. She loosened her grip a bit and straightened herself to make it look at least a bit more natural. Well, as natural as this sort of situation could look, that is.
She looked back up at Rune to meet a kind of smile that made her feel a bit uneasy, though she didn't know why. He wasn't trying to mock her, was he? About her not knowing about any of this? He certainly had the means to. Belonging to a clandestine organization, knowing more truths than she knew lies. He and Taz both could mock her to no end about how little she truly knew. But Rune didn't seem that kind of guy in her eyes. Taz, maybe, she thought with an inward shrug.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Taz himself, explaining further, though his explanation was quicker to the point and less enthusiastic. He would make a good drill instructor. Or maybe a chef. She thought absentmindedly before returning her attention to him once again. His next statements brought a frown to her expression. He was starting to sound like he did earlier, and she had to say, she preferred his bitter, sarcastic side to the one where it sounded like he felt.. just nothing. It was when he started speaking that way that she wanted to hug him. Generally, when things got really bad for her, a hug would help her relax. But she had already learned that he wasn't too fond of hugs. Her frown turned to a pout at that thought. He would likely scoff at anything touchy-feely she could say to try to cheer him up with. She didn't exactly know what could cheer him up yet. Good music, probably. But she didn't know much about music.
"Hey.." Melinda piped in defensively at his statement that stupidity was contagious, as if he had contracted it from her. She started to feel irritated with her own lack of knowledge. "I know I don't know you that well, but that can't be true. I made some good memories with you today. Now, for a better one, I want to see you smile," the girl urged, bringing the tips of her forefingers to the corners of his mouth to gently bring his lips to an unnatural smile, wearing a bright smile at the sight. She wouldn't be surprised if this didn't help at all. But she would rather him be mad at her than sulking. She could handle him mad.. sorta. She felt his arms stir around her legs as he seemed to shake himself from his stupor, a strange feeling. Rune spoke up, mentioning something about an incident with a clan. The girl perked up as Taz suddenly stopped and shot a glare towards the Romanian. She could almost feel the sting of it from behind him, and her words caught in her throat. It was pretty obvious he didn't want to speak of it, but she couldn't help but wonder. Her eyes flicked down to his hands gripping her legs as his fingers shifted almost restlessly. What could have happened that affected him so? She asked herself as she rested her head against his shoulder, glancing at Taz in curiosity.

 Theme MusicNemesis Theory - Devils Dance  Iggy watched Haruto run off rather quickly before turning his attention back to the girl who seemed to be very weak at the moment, maybe even sickly from appearance as she remained their trying to gather up whatever strength she had left to just remain conscious " Haruto went to get her some... food?" he asked his lizard which hadnt responded because well, it was a lizards and lizards usually dont talk just like any other animal " Jeez..." he said making his way to the girl and kneeling down to her as he reached in his pocket and pulled out a banana " Good thing Iguanas eat this stuff too" he said passing the banana to the girl " Dont worry, It's just a banana in my pocket but I guess I can say Im happy to see you" he said jokingly " Well... never mind..." he sighed realizing this wanst the time to make lame puns " Here, eat up" he told her " This might be able to hold you until she gets back..." he explained, one hand holding the banana out to her and the other offering her help getting up

Theme MusicNemesis Theory - Devils Dance Iggy sighed in relief as the girl got back up " Heh, I was afraid you was gonna die on me a couple seconds ago..." he said placing his hands back in his pockets before she thanked him " Yeah, Yeah dont worry about it!" he said holding up both hands with a chuckle as his usual cocky tough guy smirk crept across his face and his light golden eyes glanced back over to the girl who asked what happened to his clothes " ...Oh this" he asked as he paused for a moment thinking of what to say, he didnt know how to explain him being a run away experiment that was now being hunted down by another more dangerous unstable experiment " Well... um... it's complicated..." he said rubbing the back of his head nervously, he didnt want to talk about Doppelganger or the doctor... he knew the reason for the failed experiment being sent to the city was his fault for leaving when he was told to stay at the labs but Iggy was tired of the tests " Eh, who cares about all that stuff anyways, right?" he chuckled a bit more " Calista eh?" he asked " Nice name!" he complimented

Theme MusicNemesis Theory - Devils Dance Iggy shrugged " Heh, Iggy is short for Ignazio... It's Italian" he explained " Where I come from... No wait... more like where I was raised, We didnt have much magic like this place" he said " Back a Saber City, I mean..." he said remembering the normal life he had a couple years back " By the time I left home I became a traveler, hitch hiking and find other ways to get around city to city... over seas and across the globe" he said taking a deep breath of the fresh air " It's not too bad honestly, infact I personally love it" he said with a chuckle " I just happened to stumble upon this place by chance" he said continuing his chuckling before his albino iguana whipped Iggy's face with it's tail making a loud slap sound " Ow!" he shouted holding the side of his face " Damn Lizard... Im the one who bought the banana in the first place !" he said to it pointlessly " I picked this ungrateful b*****d up years ago... he's one tail whip away from Iguana soup..." he threatened the lizard once again pointlessly as took his hand off his face " so what about you?" he asked her " Are you from around the area or...?" his question slowly trailed off awaiting an answer from the girl as the autumn leaves blew past their feet with a cool relaxing wind
