Diana gave a small smile at the scean before her, though she didn't relax, though she couldn't hear anything approaching, nor a caw of warning from the ever vigilant Shade she still didn't like this place.

"Think it will be okay to move? This place makes my fur on edge, the quicker we are out of here and on the road again the better it will be."

One ear twitched and she fought the urge to sneeze from all the dust that had been upset from Castiel's cat rescue mission.

"Well, he was able to move on his own and managed to eat without help..." Castiel mumbled as the kitten nestled under his trench coat, blood smearing on the fabric of the coat and dress shirt beneath. "I think it should be safe for me to carry this kitten out of-" The angel did a double take when he got a better look at the young creature's fur.

The kitten had a black coat with a couple exceptions: a thin ring of white fur on the top of his head and twin blotches of white fur along his shoulder blades that looked almost like...

"...Wings?"

"We can get a better look in the light," Diana responeded, though it took all her willpower not to get close and also inspect the little furry mass. "Plus from the look of things your new friend will need to be healed, bath will have to wait."

Diana ushered Castiel out of the cabin, looking over her shoulder every so often to make sure that nothing was going to attack them, though she was wondering how the little fellow wound up there in the first place, some things were better off not being investigated.

The kitten, who was deeply nestled in Castiel's trench coat, had effectively eliminated the angel's guard. Diana had to maneuver him out of the woods as he was too preoccupied with his furry bundle: adjusting and readjusting to make sure the kitten was secure and petting him as often as he could to reassure and soothe the wounded animal.

Once they were out of the woods and next to the highway once more, the change in scenery seemed to burst the angel's blissful bubble and reality came crashing in.

This innocent creature can't stay with me...

I only bring misery and pain and death...

"We'll fix you up and find you a good home, little guy..."

~*~

Diana jumped out of the pick up truck feeling quite cramped. "Thank you again," She said, stretching out just a bit as several joints popped. Diana wasn't use to cramped quarters.

"No problem miss," The kind human, such rare thing said. "Will you to be alright?" He asked, looking over both Diana and Castiel, who to him was an uncle and a niece that had run into some trouble camping. Thankfully if he found it weird for Diana to have a pet raven, he hadn't asked.

"Thank you, sir." said Castiel. He was standing next to Diana while cradling the now completely healthy kitten. The kitsune had magically patched up the small creature before they had come across this kind man who gave them a lift. The angel was extremely relieved that the little guy was well again but that didn't change his unconscious need to protect his furry friend.

The trucker, once satisfied that the pair was safe and sound, resumed his trek to his unknown destination.

Castiel made a new friend, discovered an angelic kitten then encountered a genuinely kind trucker right after stripping Heaven of its wings... It felt surreal. He couldn't believe it.

But real or not, he had to protect the Winchesters from his mess.

"I'll go call Dean on that pay... Do you have any coin I could borrow?" asked Castiel sheepishly.

Diana scrounged around her various pouches and bags, she wasn't in the mod to test of magic against modern technology, but she did tend to collect random stuff, and thankfully she came across a few shiny coins.

"This should do it, I hope. Mostly use magic or other types of treasure, but they were shinny and I think its the right currency." Diana passed the coins over to Castiel. "You do know how to call your freinds?" She asked. "I'm not sure how many calls you can get with those."

"I do." replied Castiel as he accepted the coins, looking them over and nodding in approval. "This past year they have acquired a... base of operations and they have shared its number with me."

Thanking Diana for the change and, after adjusting so the kitten rested comfortable and securely under his left arm, he made his way to the aforementioned payphone.

He swiftly picked up the phone and wedged it between his shoulder and his ear, then quickly inserted the amount the voice requested but hesitated when asked to dial the number.

The kitten purred and nuzzled his arm, as if he was trying to encourage the angel. Intentional or not, Castiel drew strength from his furry friend's actions. He took a deep breath and dialed the number of the Winchester's bunker.

Diana leaned against the wall, shifting a bit so that her tails and wings were comfortable. Crossing her arms Diana watched in interest, she had never found much use for phones and the like bat was interested to see if Casteil could get in touch with his friends.

Shade was close by, the raven decided to entertain himself by playing a game of dive bomb on some random pigeons, seeming to find great join in making them scatter further away, only to chase them off again as soon as they landed.

Unbeknownst to Castiel, five hundred miles away from the phone booth he was standing in, Dean was sitting at the table in the bunker kitchen, falling asleep, his forehead resting on the rim of the bottle of beer he had been drinking from. He had been reading a book named “Religion and the supernatural”, written back in the 1800s.
He was woken from his semi slumber by a sound he hadn’t heard in ages.
A phone ringing.
Animated by a new surge of energy, Dean ran to the phone and picked it up so fast he almost dropped it.
“Hello?” He said as he pressed it against his ear.
The voice at the other end of the line spoke his name, and he felt his knees buckle from the shock which shot through him.

At the sound of Dean's voice Castiel's breath hitched. Suddenly awash with a torrent of emotions that he couldn't process he was silent for a couple beats too long.

The kitten mewled, reminding him that he had yet to speak so he licked his lips nervously and answered.

"Hello, Dean."

Diana found herself getting a bit bored with just watching, so she joined Shade in his game of 'scare the crap out of random birds.' Though for her the game included waving her arms, running at a random flock and yelling "Bird," repetitively. Thankfully other then Casteil there was no one else around to see the odd behavior.

He couldn’t believe his ears. Dean stood there astounded for a tad longer than he wished, rummaging through this brain looking for something to say. He barely stopped himself from just spilling all the crap he had been thinking about during the last few months. He decided against it and instead went with his more composed, yet rough manners. He took a deep breath, cleared his throat and said: “Well you’ve just spared me from a lot of driving around, where the hell have you been Cas? You’re calling me, just now, ages after the deed. You have got to be kidding me.”

Castiel couldn't breathe for a moment. Dean's words were like a knife made out of all the angel's insecurities and guilt that the hunter expertly plunged into his heart. For the first time Castiel's eyes watered from a pain that wasn't physical.

"I'm sorry... Dean. I... I was unable... unable... 'til now..." Castiel was breathing again but the breaths were rapid, too rapid. He felt like he was suffocating and he had no idea why. He panicked and it only made it worse.

The kitten squirmed out of Castiel's grip onto the ledge beneath the phone. He mewled in concern.

Diana's sharp hearing picked up on Castiel once again freaking out and responded the way she knew best. With one quick movement she turned away from scaring the birds, to pulling out her trusty satsuma. With a quick flick of her wrist she beaned him upside the head with the small orange colored fruit.

"Deep breaths there!" She called out, though she did rush over to Castiel's side, patting him on the back. "No passing out on me now."
