World War Z

[Nikki Faroda]

As he looks around he see two windows in the living room which is connected to the dinning room. Through there is where Harley is. There is a hallway and three doors. In the room is a TV, three person couch, coffee table and chair all under a ceiling fan. "No basement but the guest room has no windows" she had to keep a close eye on him. "Bag" she reached out for her bag. Harley ran to the kitchen and started whimpering for food. She waited for her bag then went the the kitchen to feed Harley.

Ricard had completely forgotten about the bag he was holding and gave it to her when asked. "No windows huh," Ricard said stepping more into the house and looking around. "Should be safe enough if we're just staying the night." Ricard stepped into the hallway. There were only three doors so it wouldn't be that difficult to find the guest room. "So, do you live here by yourself?"

Ashley fed Harley and then went to find Rick. "Yea i do now." She walked down the hallway and stood in the doorway as Rick looked around the guest room. As he looked around the room he saw one bare bed, a nightstand with a lamp, an empty closet, and a wooden floor.

Ricard found the guest room almost immediately. It didn't have much, but it was good enough for a quick one night stay. They could easily bring in stuff from the rest of the house to barricade the door, and store supplies they'd need tomorrow in the closet.

"Now?" Ricard asked curiously, turning to face Ashley as she came toward him. He immediately feared the worst considering what was happening and what he himself had to do, but Ashley wasn't panicking or freaking out and seemed perfectly fine being in her house, so it couldn't have been related to recent events, at least he hoped.

"Yea my aunt lived with me but she died 3 weeks ago" Ashley said the last part hushed tone obviously very upset as she rubbed her neck and tilted her head down. When she did he noticed a tear falling to the floor.

Ricard heard the pain hidden in the hushed tone of her voice and watched as a tear rolled down her cheek. He had obviously touched upon a touchy subject, and wasn't quite sure what he should do. "I...I see," he awkardly managed to say. He took a few hesitant steps toward her. "Hey look," he began as he approached her, "I didn't mean to bring up a sore topic." Ricard went to place his arm around her shoulders. "I'm sorry."

"It's ...ok" She said hesitantly as she buried her head in his chest. After a while she realized what she had done. So she went to stab him but only grazed his side. She said "sorry" as she turned to go to her room. Where she could cry without this strange man seeing her, though what was the point now he had already seen her crying. She had broken the golden rules her aunt had put in place, Never ever let a anyone especially a man see you cry.

Ricard was unsure how to react as Ashley buried her head into his chest, but he wrapped his arms around her instinctively, embracing her. It didn't last long as a sharp pain ran up his side. He quickly clutched his side, feeling a rather large tear in the side of his shirt and a slight incision on his skin. A small, warm wet trickle seeped it's way into his hand, and as the realization of what happened hit him, he heard Ashley saying "sorry" and turning to leave the room. He bit back his initial urge to scream at her at seeing she was about to burst into tears and instead said as calmly as he could, "Wait, where are you going?"

"my room ... we both need sleep before tomorrow and the bathroom is across the hall if you want to shower" She said as fast as she could. Then ran to her room.After shutting the door she slide down it and started silently sobbing in to her knees.

"Wait," Ricard called but Ashley was already gone. He saw the room she entered and then heard the door shut rather quickly. It was obvious she wanted to be alone, but at the same time it was too dangerous right now. He couldn't leave her in such a state and in an exposed room as well. Before he went to go to her, he looked down at the cut. It was quite shallow, and had already scabbed over, so no real damage done.

Ricard walked over to Ashley's room and listened. He couldn't hear anything except for a slight rubbing against the bottom of the door. "Ashley," he called through the door while grabbing the doorknob and turning it. The doorknob turned easily, but the door wouldn't open, as if something were up against it, and Ricard had a very good idea what that thing might be.

As she controlled her voice she managed to say "go away" without it betraying her emotions but she knew she couldn't say another word. He was right there and she wouldn't let him see her like this. Harley came running down the hallway to find Rick standing in front of Ashley's door and started a low growl like she thought Rick had hurt Ashley.  

[Zihark Faroda]

"No, I'm not going anywhere," Ricard replied, ever so slightly seeing if Ashley had moved from the door so he could open it, but apparently no such luck. "Come on, let me in, let's talk." Ricard heard four little feet coming toward him followed by a low growl. He let go of the door and turned to face Harley. "Easy girl."

"No go away" her voice cracked in the middle of her sentence. She heard the growl and said "Harley enough, he is your friend" After that Harley lowered her head in apology. Since it was now deathly quiet in the house Ricard could hear Ashley's low sobs and sniffs. And somehow he knew she was afraid but of what he had no clue.

"I already said I'm not going anywhere," Ricard said a bit more firmly. He heard her voice crack and could now clearly make out the sobs and sniffles of Ashley. He petted the top of Harley's head to show her it was ok and turned back toward the door. "Look, if it's about what happened earlier I'm not mad. Please, let me in...let me help. You don't have to be alone."

"You're wrong i do, and i always will be" she couldn't believe that she was telling him this. He had somehow make her trust him when he said he wasn't going anywhere. That was something she couldn't afford to do. She knew the pain of losing something important.
