Super Mario Maker was kind of a Mario Mania. Back to basic gameplay mechanics, huge involvement from fans, etc.

Megaman 9 and 10 were a good throwback, but Megaman X is the one that really needs an updated entry.

Mario Maker, I mean yeah, kinda. I think we'd honestly take any Mega Man we could get at this point.

yeah, i agree; studiopolis especially blew my mind. i LOVED the boss that chased you; it fit so well that it made me wonder why you didn't see much of that in the old games. probably because everyone was a video game design noob back then.

nintendo's got it down, with the exception of ignoring the massive potential for a gyro-controlled pokemon snap revisit, but squeenix for example hasn't wholeheartedly delivered on their nostalgia potential in years. it's always soulless fanwanks for a quick buck. when i saw sonic mania, honestly, all i could think about was the graveyard of chrono franchise fan projects and how enthusiastically people would take to an FF tactics that united franchise favorites in the same zone-borrowing style. ooh, or what about a 16-bit ninja turtles beat-em-up? WITH local co-op, please and thank you. other franchises definitely aren't as desperate as sonic was for a hit like this, but there are lots of itchy fans out there.

i've been good! my sister moved out, so now i'm in charge of this house. she's due in 6 weeks and i can't talk her out of naming her next kid - presumably a girl - grayson. stare beyond that, i'm saving up for a puppy, learning a couple new instruments, and might have my mom move in so i can help take care of her. i would rather be back in london, but realistically i'm stuck here as long as my family needs me, so might as well make the most of it!

Another Turtles game in the style of the old ones would be really awesome. The Sonic Mania fanbase just absolutely nailed not only how the game feels, but the music, the level design, the boss fights and more while still updating it to help it feel modern enough to not get too frustrating in 2017. I don't think anyone needed it as badly as Sonic and I'm glad he got it. Hopefully when Forces comes out and doesn't sell as well as Sonic Team hoped, they'll take a step back and realize that we want something different than what they keep trying to feed us. I mean Jesus, the game I kept thinking of while playing Mania was Sonic 4 which at the time I thought was pretty good, but looking back on I realize I just had stockholm syndrome fo(u)r.

You know what series I'd love to see given the Mania treatment? Mario. I know we get Mario games that reference old stuff all the time and the NSMB line's existence helped bring 2D platformers back to the forefront again but I want another 2D, pixelated, classic SMB sequel. Tough, sometimes unforgiving, long, with unique assets, music and junk. No more of this reused content from the past several games either.

Woah so is anyone else living there? Grayson is... pre bad. Hopefully you can get mama in there, that would be a huge help I think for both of you.

Another Turtles game in the style of the old ones would be really awesome. i feel like mario got a huge nostalgia nod with mario maker (i really want a top-down zelda maker!), but i was kinda thinking paper mario could stand to be brought back to basics. i haven't played color splash, but paper jam was disappointing and we all know how you feel about sticker star.

there's an older guy upstairs named phil. spends most of his time out of the house, and stays in his room the rest of it. he's lived here three months and said less than 30 words to me. 10/10 roommate, would lease indefinitely.

Man, Gaia somehow got worse to use and feels more antiquated every time I post on it.

I haven't seen any Turtles movies past the originals from the 90s. Megan Fox doesn't seem like April but to be fair it's not like April was this untouchable character from this driven narrative either. I don't get why they cast Fox as her but I don't know why Hollywood does most things. Between the Dark Tower and the Deathnote movies I'm pretty jaded. And there's a live action Mega Man on the way.

The Casino type level was pretty neat but honestly it looked more fanmade than Mania which is all sorts of ********. It looked like they got an official model of Sonic and forced it to do these animations. I don't know if it didn't have momentum but it's just... not good. It would be interesting to stream the two back to back to compare and contrast.

I think a Zelda maker would be atrocious, honestly. Mario Maker is a neat concept that's deeply flawed by the human population. Finding good things on there was never easy and most of the stuff you did play was either total trash or full of bullshit tricks. It just makes me appreciate actual level design more because it's not something very apparent to people.

Maybe make the Maker cost more and the player cost less so only dedicated people buy the Maker? Or find a better way to sift trhough the garbage. A PAPER Mario Mania would be great, we could just pretend like everything past the first three games didn't exist. I haven't played Color Splash but I don't need to to know that it's terrible!

yeah, it's funny.. i came back here because i heard they fixed the economy with this platinum nonsense, and even in light of that it just looks so old and boring.

well, yeah, but this april didn't even seem like a reporter first and foremost, she was a spy for the ninja turtles, a master of disguise... and running in heels. (WHY the ********, by the way, would a smart, savvy character wear four-inch wedges to a dangerous place? scream ) she did a little bit of reporting in the end and that was, like, it. i think michael bay just has a crush on megan fox. she seems to show up in his movies a lot for no reason. who's doing the megaman movie, do you know? inb4 they make roll hot.

well, sonic 4 wasn't developed by sonic team, right? wikipedia says dimps did it, but that they also did most of the GBA sonics. were those any good? i really didn't play sonic much beyond 1, 2, and 3... and to be honest, i hated 1...

i s'pose you've got a point there. is there no way to rate/categorize levels, or sort them by that? i feel like that would be the easiest way to let everyone play the kind of game they want, whether it's a gimmicky rage level or a well-crafted challenge. although, i thought a lot of the "run" or "stand still" levels were interesting in their own way, if not as creative as a real level.

Yeah, he definitely has a bonrar for Megan Fox. I don't know, who cares. The cartoon is at least good, the movies can be terrible. I watched one Transformers movie and haven't seen a TMNT movie he's made. The guy directing the Mega Man movie... is the person that directed the Death Note movie on Netflix. Seriously. There is no god.

I haven't played the Advance games either but I hear they're pretty good. They also did the Rush games which I did play and thought were pretty fun, but were also the start of the "rush mashing" that modern Sonic games have become, so... eh. I should go back and play the Advance games, or better yet, they should rerelease them. Hell, I'm hoping that Christian Whitehead and his team release widescreen versions of Sonic 1-3, K and CD for Switch. I'd buy those in a heartbeat.

There's very few ways to sort levels and it's just impossible to know if one's going to be a troll level or not. Even still, the majority were gimmicky and not designed well in the first place. With Mario it's alright because the second-to-second gameplay was fun but with puzzle solving in Zelda it could be a nightmare trying to solve just ONE puzzle. It would be a neat idea but I don't think it would be executed well.

I really wish Mario Maker was on Switch though. It's the perfect platform for it! They're taking down Miiverse soon though so Mario Maker won't really be worth going back to. Gah, the Wii U had some great games and services! I wish they'd all just be brought over to Switch.

honestly, i've been on a crazy tmnt kick lately. just watched the 2007 cg movie tonight... yikes. at least michael bay seems to understand that those movies are supposed to be funny, that one was edgelordy as ********. but you're right, we'll always have the other good stuff. also, f**. i wonder how much they're gonna change..

yeah, they'd definitely need a better way to sort levels, then. but i dunnoooo, i like dumb challenges. even if they plopped me into a tall-a** tower full of lower-level holes and put pincushion enemies and bouncy balls on every floor (you know, like nintendo themselves already did), i'd still have a good time.

do you not think they'll eventually end up porting everything over to switch, or are they going all-in on that phone app idea? i kinda hate how nintendo can get away with being so obtuse with its management and hardware just because buying one is the only way to play any of its IPs.
