He shifted and lowered himself so that he could put his eyes between hers and the spot on the floor they had targetted, one hand rising to her cheek as he looked up into her eyes, "Upset? Yes, but more because of my own flaws. Angry? Yes, but not at you." He hated Neko almost as much as he hated the voice in his head trying to stir doubt in Kyoko's feelings and loyalty, but he could not hate her.

❦ "Death is worse than you would think."

Kyoko sighed and faked a smile. "You don't have any flaws. Other than your abnormal height." she said quietly, determined to make him stop acting like this-- even just changing the subject would work as well. But she was tired, so there wasn't many ways to joke around with him... "Can I sleep now?" she asked softly, raising the usual pitch of her voice so that she sounded like a little kid.

"But how would I know that?" ❧

 

[Shimobashira Kiba]

Kiba walked through the quiet hallways of Squad 6, bags in hand. He was a short young man, built solid with muscle. His normal brown hair was stained black with soot from his trade; his natural odor of burned wood and hot metal wafted off him. He awkwardly stopped at a few of the doorways as he passed them, looking in the rooms to see if anyone was around. After about 5 minutes of walking around he came upon the door where Kyoko and the other gentleman were talking. He stopped the second he saw them and instinctively back away from the door. He made his presence known, but did not enter as to not be rude. He waited for a moment, making sure he didn't offend any of them by interrupting their conversation.

After a moment he sat his bag next to the door and paced down the hallway slightly, as to not look completely awkward just waiting outside on them.

"My height isn't abnormal, Zaraki was about my height back in the day, you're just fun-sized for my enjoyment," the teasing smile was truly genuine as he looked up at her and winked, so when she asked if she could sleep he didn't think twice and scooted her back onto his bed away from the edge and crawled in alongside her. "I don't know, can you sleep now?"

❦ "Death is worse than you would think."

Kyoko smiled mischievously and stifled a laugh. "I don't know if I can sleep with you acting like this and saying I'm just for your enjoyment." she replied in a playful tone, putting her arms around Thorn. She could vaguely hear someone walking around the office part of the house, and hoped it wasn't Neko again... "It's sure to give me some strange dreams~"

Thorn didn't stifle his laugh, "Acting like myself? What else would you expect from you alcoholic-slacker-perv of a Captain?" He ignored the person in the halls conciously, just as he was unconciously ignoring anyone else, she had his full attention and he nearly bit his lip before letting out another laugh, "Well if your dreams turn too strange I'll just poke your back till you wake up.~" 'Because I'll probably be having similarly strange dreams'

❦ "Death is worse than you would think."

Kyoko giggled at Thorn's remark about himself. Alcoholic, slacking, perverted. It was right on the dot. "Okay, I need sleep. Coming back from the dead is more exhausting than you think." she murmured playfully, cuddling up to Thorn. She knew that statement might hurt him, but it would make him more glad she was back. And it seemed like he'd already forgotten the incident earlier. She yawned and laid her head on his chest, smiling up at him.

"But how would I know that?" ❧

"Don't worry, I'll let you sleep, I'm just teasing because I've been without my second seat for far too long and none of the other female officers or squad members even compare in my book." He nosed down against her forehead and his large body almost seemed to curl around hers on the large bed.

Kyoko smiled and put her arms around Thorn's neck. "I know you were just teasing. So was I.." she said softly, closing her eyes and raising her head to press her lips to his.

As her lips touched his and he wrapped his arms around her slight frame Thorn couldn't help but smile, but how he has missed this and her for too long, so he let his smile turn to a kiss and enjoyed having her back.

Kyoko smiled and pulled away from the kiss after a little while, glancing up at him. "I love you. Good morning." she yawned, letting her eyes drift closed and consciousness flow away..

He waited until she'd drifted off to sleep to respond, he didn't want his affection to deprive her of rest anymore this night, or was it really morning already? Either way, he brushed his nose against her forehead and whispered his love back and let sleep take him as well.

Kyoko shivered and shifted uncomfortably in her sleep. Of course she would have 'strange' dreams --whether it was Thorn or the incident or her returning, she didn't know--, though it wasn't what she expected at all...

"Catch!" was the only warning before a large clump of slush was fired at the girl. She dodged easily and just stood there, calmly staring at the black-haired girl-- both looked to be no more than twelve years old, at the very most. "Kyo--" "Shut up, shut up, shut up!" she shouted. No way was she going to give up now. Kani had taunted her, she was mad, not a good combination. She huffed and leaned down to scoop up another snowball, taking a moment to put a stone into the middle of it-- what fun was it if it was only snow that hit her sister in the face? Kyoko smiled and stood straight once again, using all of her little-girl-power to throw it as hard as she could. She smirked and giggled at the satisfying sound of a smack and thud as they fell to the ground. Wait a second.. Since when did her sister have black hair and those hateful dark hazel eyes? "..You're gonna pay for that.."

Kyoko whimpered softly and moved closer to Thorn, trembling.

Thorn encircled the trembling Kyoko in his arms warmly as if to protect her from the cold or whatever the cause of her tremor might be. Even in an unconcious state he tries to protect and comfort her as her dreams continue.

❦ "Death is worse than you would think."

Kyoko snuggled closer to Thorn as she felt him hold her, though it seemed nothing could shake her from the dream..

Kyoko stepped back as the figure stood and flicked the snow off of their coat, taking note that it was Korokune-- Kaniedie was standing by, watching with wide eyes. "Kyoko, run!" her sister shouted, starting to sprint for the pair. She briefly saw a glimpse of black before something was squeezing her throat, lifting her into the air, choking her. She cried out in agony and tried desperately to pry the hands off her throat, but they wouldn't let up. Oh no, she was going to die... A very faint "Kyo!" came to her ears before the hands were ripped painfully off of her neck. A half a second later she was on the ground, making a noise somewhere between sobbing and gasping for air-- she would never take breathing for granted again. She managed to move her gaze to where Korokune lay in front of her, obviously unconscious. Kaniedie was standing over him. She quickly turned to Kyoko and walked over, placing a glowing red hand on her sister's forehead before it all went black.
