'Hhmm, she's in a rush all of a sudden,' Ricard thought as he looked back down at the bike. Whether he was making a mistake or not, he wasn't sure, but Ricard just couldn't let go of the feeling that the bike would come in handy, and given how the world was falling apart around them he was going to have to trust those feelings as much as possible if he wanted to live. "Good, it's settled then, the bike comes with us." Ricard went to start brining the bike into the living room before he would go back to grab the rest of his stuff, and stopped. Looking out of the broken living room window, he could see several zombies roaming the street outside, and those were only the ones he could see. He was certain that if he got closer that he would see even more of them, but he didn't want to risk drawing their attention by doing so. He looked back and saw the lone zombie from earlier now roaming the backyard.
"Well," Ricard said with a sigh, "it looks like we may be wanting to take a back way out of here. I don't suppose you have any bolt cutters that we can use to get through the fence with?"

Ricard made sure to be aware of his surroundings while cutting. The yard he was cutting into was zombie clear, though he had no idea what the street on the other side would look like. It had to be better than the street they were avoiding, however. He did see blood splattered against one of the windows of the house before him though. Something had gone on, but he was hoping it was restricted to just the house itself, which they had no reason to enter. They had enough supplies for now. As he was halfway through the fence, he could hear footsteps behind him, but instantly knew they belonged to Ashley. They weren't slow and dragging, but steady and true. It also helped that he could hear Harley walking beside her and the motorcycle being dragged through the grass also. "Well, I'm almost through," he said without turning to face Ashley. "If you plan on doing anything with that wagon you mentioned earlier, now's the time."

With one last snip, a three foot section of the fence came free and fell back to the ground, leaving behind a decent sized hole to travel through. With that done, Ricard turned to see the progress that Ashley was making. She seemed to really be going at it, but still had a way to go yet. Ricard was impressed with the dedication she was putting into jerry-rigging the wagon for Harley's use. "Hey," he called out to her, "while you're doing that I'm going to scout ahead." Ricard then placed the bolt cutters down and picked up one of the metal rods. Gripping it in a defensive position, Ricard then slowly made his way through the opening in the fence. Placing his back against the house, he then sidled his way to the right side of the house. Just like Ashley's house, there was no fence blocking off the front yard from the backyard, so when Ricard had reached the end he could see clearly toward the street. There were no signs of zombies yet. Still keeping close to the house, Ricard slowly made his way to the street. So far, so good. When he had finally reached the front yard, he took a look around. The street wasn't completely deserted, but they were few and far between. Ricard counted only 5 zombies that were standing around in either direction. "Good, this should make escaping easier."

Satisfied that the street was pretty much clear, Ricard turned to head back to Ashley. After taking a few steps there was a crunch beneath his feet. He looked down to see broken glass littering the ground before him. He had managed to avoid it earlier since he was sidling along the wall. Ricard looked up and saw a window right next him. The glass was broken, and on the pieces that remained in the frame dried blood lined its edges. Curiosity got the better of him and Ricard walked over to look. The window stood at roughly head level with Ricard, but he stood on the tips of his toes nonetheless just for a better view. The room he was looking in, what he assumed to be the living room, was completely trashed. Furniture was torn, or knocked over, and blood coated almost everything. Sprawled over a broken chair was the mangled and bloody body of a little boy, maybe 7 years old at most. Some movement near the edge of the room caught his attention, and Ricard looked to see a blood, covered woman on her hands and knees just barely out of view. He couldn't see precisely what she was doing, but he could make out a leg beneath her and could hear the sounds of gnawing.
