zuko replies " im here looking for the avatar one of our spies told us he seen the avatar and his friends here, by the way this is mai ling my father sent her with me to help with my mission "

"I know you are looking for the Avatar Zuko..Everyone knows that. It's a pleasure to meet you Mai ling. And like I said before I will only be here with you for two weeks The Fire Lord wants a good report." Jia-Li said in the same cold voice. This is torture why would the Fire Lord give me this mission? He knows what had happened between us, Jia-Li thought angrily. She knew she wouldn't be able to act angry around Zuko for much longer.

Mai-ling followed Zuko, finally glad to be on land. She twirled around a bit, her long black hair escaping its hold. It flowed down towards her shoulders gracefully, making the young teen look like a flower reaching for the sun. She stopped hearing a girl's voice behind her and Zuko. She turned to see a young woman and smiled at her. "The pleasure is mine Jia-Li." The young noble said respectfully with a bow.

Kai bit his lip. He couln't let peoplesee he was an air bender. He ran up the side of a building to see everything.

Jia-Li looked at Mai-Ling taking a step back. She smiled softly at the teenager taking her in. She was beautiful and Jia-Li was jealous. Jia-Li looked down at her tattooed arm trying not to notice the scars underneath. She was broken and unrepairable all because of Zuko. She swallowed hard remembering the rose that he had given her the night the accident had happened. "Well we should be off, no use just standing here." She said her voice cracking. How am I supposed to work with Zuko when I still love him? When he scarred and made me deaf? This is going to be a very long two weeks, she thought.

Jia-Li silently followed Zuko keeping her head down. There was always a plus at being deaf, if she didn't watch others lips she wouldn't know what they were saying either about her..or something else bad. The only time she did raise her head was to watch were she was going and to keep an eye on Zuko. Jia-Li sighed her finger tips beginning to glow a faint red. That always happened when she was either nervous or excited about something. "Zu-" Jia-Li stopped herself from speaking. She knew better than to speak without being spoken to. Even is she was high in power and she was close friends with the royal family.

Mai-Ling followed Zuko, hugging his arm with a smile on her pale face. She looked back over at Jai-Li, her purple eyes kind and curious. She let go of Zuko's arm and walked over to the girl. Lightly she placed her hand on Jia-Li's shoulder. "Are you a close friend of Zuko's? Your very pretty." It was true, the girl in front of her was beautiful. Like the earth, Mai-Ling wasn't one to easily become angered of jealous. She was a little to nice in the eyes of the fire nation. She was an earth bender though and her personality tended to be different from the native people around her. At times it made her wish she was a normal fire nation citizen, but she wasn't. Oh well like it really mattered. All she wanted to do was get to know this girl a little better, maybe even make a new friend.

When Jia-Li looked up she noticed Mai-Ling holding onto Zuko's arm. It pained her to see that he had moved on without her. It's for the best he moved on. Why would I even think he would ever want me again, she thought sadly. She lowered her head again but only raised it a dew minutes later to someone touching her shoulder. She looked over to Zuko pain in her eyes before telling the girl the truth. "I was extremely close to Zuko. And the Fire Lord basically called me his own. Azula and I are still like sisters." Jia-Li said quietly. She kept her eyes on Zuko the whole time she spoke. "Zuko and I aren't close anymore. Not after what happened, but I still l-" Jia-Li stopped herself before she said anymore. "Anything thing else you would like to know?" Jia-Li asked kindly.

Mai-Ling thought about the situation for a moment. "If you feel that way about him, then why don't you tell him? I'm sure he'd feel the same way." Sure she liked Zuko, but to her that didn't matter. She could never be with the Prince. She was an earth bender after all. She'd most likely be killed before ever becoming his.

"Because I'm broken. The minute he made me deaf I forgave him. It was a trainning accident that went wrong. But Zhu and my parents never forgave him or his family. And yes I still love him, but he has moved on. I can tell he likes you and you very much like him. I won't get in the way of that. Zuko...Zuko is specail even if Azula or their father can't see it. AZula can't stand to be in the same room as him. The only thing that made them get along was me when all of us were together. But you must not worry Mai-Ling I won't interfer. I am only going to be here for two weeks with you and the Prince. Just..once you have him don't let go."Jia-Li said in soft tones. Yes I love Zuko, but i will not let it get in the way his happiness.

zuko is to busy looking for the spy they had that he didnt hear mai ling and jia li talking

A small sigh escaped the noble's lips. She did feel rather guilty, even though there was no need to feel that way. "If that's what you want. Truthfully I wouldn't care all that much if you told the Prince of your feelings. His feelings for me will fade quite quickly for i'm not like everyone else of the fire nation." She gave suttle hints of her real power, but said nothing of them. It wasn't like Mai-Ling was going to blurt them out. After all this girl seemed nice but she was still a higher up sent by the king. The thought made her blood boil, but she wasn't going to let it get to her. She didn't even fully trust Zuko with her little secret. Oh well nothing she could really do about it.

"It's not what I want, and I would want very much tell him that I am still in love with him. But you Mai-Ling like him, and he likes you." Jia-Li said matter of factly. Jia-Li saw what Zuko said and quickened her passe leaving Mai-Ling behind with her thoughts. She went over to him lifting her hand to touch his forearm but stopped herself. She asked, "Do you want me to go first?"
