Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a British boarding school of magic, which is located in the mountains. Hogwarts is divided into four different houses Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Each was named after one of the founders Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin. Each house has specific traits that it is known for.
Gryffindor is known for bravery, daring, Chivalry, and nerve. Hufflepuff is known for fair play, honesty, and tolerence. Ravenclaw is known for wit, creativity and wisdom. While Slytherin is known for ambition, cleverness, cunning, resourcefulness, and its pure-blood heritage.

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins September 1, 2009 and expect your owl no later then July 31, 2009. We eagerly await your arrival here it Hogwarts.

Uniform
First year students will require
1.Three sets of plain workrobes (black)
2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear
3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)

1 set glass or crystal phials
1 telescope
1 set brass scales

Students may also bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS
