Thirty years has past since Sunnydale was destroyed. Sunnydale has been re-built and the Hellmouth has been slowly re-building itself. Even with all that had happened in Sunnydale so many years before, people have made themselves forget, or have decided to believe that it had never happened at all.
The stronger the Hellmouth grows, the stranger Sunnydale becomes. Many Slayers have traveled away from the bad memory of Sunnydale and have gone on to do their duties elsewhere-- but there is still a small group of Slayers who protect Sunnydale from the weird that it emanates on a daily basis.
