Once there was a land that was stained by war and its evils. When Wars started there would be naught by slaughter of the warriors who fought in it and the civilians who wanted nothing to do with it. When wars ended, tears of despair would be shead rather than joy for there was always a war to follow the last. This land, this planet was called Altera and the continent that spilled the most blood was Talus which was ruled by a Mad King and his religion. The Mad King, who was the lead priest of a religion that believed suffering was the only hope for a peaceful afterlife, would constantly make sure his country had a reason to fight and wage war. He used such methods as doing unspeakable things to nobles from his own country and foreign ones, he'd take credit for political assassinations, use mages to curse other royal families, steal from trading ships that went between countries, and many other war worthy travesties. He did all this for the sake of his countrymen so that they would be given a peaceful afterlife that exceeded all others on the planet. However he would not see his dream come to fruition, nor his followers, or those unlucky enough to live in the royal capitol for a great tragedy that outshone any war, those that were and those to come.

During a day of celebration and fasting, the sky above the capitol had cracked, this crack no bigger than a horse grew and branched out until it was as big as the city itself. From this crack a massive flying ship had busted through reality and left a hole within the air. This massive Flying Ship had casted a shadow over the Royal Capitol, blocking the sun’s light that shone over the city. This ship was an existence that none of the Capitol’s citizenry nor their ruler could peel their eyes away from, it was unlike anything they had ever seen. From the rip in space time seeped a unknown visible teal energy that would drench the Royal Capitol in every nook and cranny, everything person and thing were saturated with this energy, even though who remained in the confine of buildings. At first people were afraid, but they would soon feel pleasant changes to their own bodies as varying abilities and inhuman characteristics were added upon them. Some had become able to generate and manipulate the elements, others had gained raises in their physical conditions, some had even gained psychic and mental abilities. Indeed the Mad King and his citizens had believed that whatever Gods that watched over them had finally given them a reward for the faith. But this joy and this belief would soon turn into horrid and grotesque Despair. Soon enough the Flying Ship had made yet another hole in Reality, slowly going into the dimension it came from as even more of the mysterious teal energy had flooded onto the Royal Capitol. This extra amount of energy would cause terrible mutations and changes to the once joyful and empowered Citizenry. Innocent people had started to suffer painful and nightmarish transformations that involved bubbling skin, body contortions, organs and bones proding out, and many..many more followed. There were even some that were attracted towards and melded with various metals all across the city before being completed coated by the metals they were merged with, becoming what looked like metal mannequins. The Mad King watched in horror as eventually he too went through a terrible transformation and in his final thoughts of pain he had cursed the ship and the Gods he once believed in before dying.

As the ship eventually left this world, so did the tears it left behind, the holes closing up and disappearing as though there was no tear at all. However the ship would indeed leave something behind, the teal energy which had moved past the irradiated former Royal Capitol and would consume the continent as a whole. Yet fortune was with those who lived outside of the Mad King’s prized city for they would gain the very same beneficial changes the Citizenry did before their horrible deaths. They had gained mystical abilities, new kinds of humans were created, and thus the continent had become a better place for its people had been given many new possibilities, these possibilities and powers, even the energy itself, would soon be called Ether and its users would be known as Etherians. After ten years of the Talunites creating a new council lead Government to rule over their country and giving time for the blessed people to learn how to control their abilities, the terrible radiation that was once the Capitol of the country would sunken the city deep into the earth by those who specialized in the use of Earth Magic while those who could directly manipulate Ether would push the Ether that irradiated the air around the city into the hole, creating a sunken hole in their continent that was branded as a forbidden zone. However within five years, another nightmarish change had been cultivating and festering in the now sunken city. From the horribly mutated corpses came monsters of grotesque form that could freely alter their bodies, forming organic weapons from their limbs, liquifying their bodies, and even making themselves look like their hosts before their deformation. These beasts that had started to eat the bodies they were born from would be called Evolvers, terrible beings that lusted and hungered for Ether. However another race would be born from the tragedy that befell the Capitol. The metal mannequins had altered internally for the five years in the irradiated hole, the once dead organs, bones, cells, and muscles changing becoming metal and machine-like before the outward appearance of the mannequins began to change as well, losing their human appearances and changing into what one could call machines with humanoid bodies of varying sizes. After such a change these bodies would come to life and whether from instinct or their memories returning, the Machine People had fled from the Capitol while the Evolvers devoured and fought over the human corpses. While some of the Machine People did not make it, enough of this new race was able to escape to the surface, but would be detained by the Talus Government until they knew what to do with them.

The Machine people would be given a name: Mechanoids and would, within a year of being segregated after it was determined they were not irradiated, be recognized full fledged citizens of the Country. These Mechanoids were physically superior to their organic counterparts, they were stronger, faster, more durable, and even had more stamina all because of their machine bodies. But it appeared they could not use Ether despite being so heavily exposed to it. Another discovery was made after a Mechanoid lost to a Etherian, it appeared that the Mechanoids bled Ether and that the metal they were composed of was not only a completely new element, but also that it had some resistance towards Ether. After good relations between the Mechanoids and humans were made, the Mechanoids would tell them about the Evolvers that were festering within the Forbidden City and what exactly happened on the day the Tragedy was born. At first the Council had doubts the Evolvers or the Flying Ship would ever return, but they were dreadfully wrong as a small town near the Forbidden Zone would not only be visited by few Evolvers that were able to escape the hole, but the Flying Ship would also appear over the town as it released a large flying object before the massive thing left. The Flying Object had sucked up the town along with its people and the ground beneath it before disappearing into the Ocean. This second tragedy would give birth to the Chaser Legion, a organization that would specialize in the hunting of Evolvers and the Flying Ship along with the Sky Eater, both of which would be called Mobius and Albatross. The Chaser Legion had also associated with the Adventurer’s Association, allowing for both groups to help one another in various tasks and allowing members to take on missions from either group. Three centuries has passed since the Chaser’s Legion was founded and because of Ether and the Mechanoids Talus’ civilization had advanced considerably, automobiles, phonographs, and even flying ships had been invented and a few cities that rivaled even the old capitol. While there were still knights, adventurers, dukes, and nobles, Talus had nonetheless advanced, but sadly the Evolvers and the Albatross were still active but so were their hunters!
