During the resolution of the first World War the United States government held a series of private meeting with the Allied Powers in which they discussed a lasting solution to Total War. Together they sought to bring order to an uncontrollable world by preventing disaster before it could occur. The Order, a international defense agency, was formed. Within a few years each of the Allied Powers had accepted The Order as an independent agency and it flourished from then on. During the second World War and the Cold War the Order worked to minimize damage but they failed. The Order was expelled from both Russia and the United States because the directors refused to align with either side. In the following years, many smaller nations also set about expelling the order from their lands. All the while agents of the Order worked to protect the nations that had turned against them. In the year 1989 The Order was officially disbanded and all members were hunted down for war crimes. A lie that the world told itself was necessary to maintain peace and control. Within the first few months all of the directors had been captured and imprisoned. Many were killed either on the run or in the prisons that they were placed in. Every time an agent of the Order died the government of the country they were killed in covered it up to hide the fact that they could not protect the people who once protected them.

Despite the founding members being imprisoned, a few agents managed to escape. In 2001 following the terrorist attack on the United States, the members of The Order who had escaped came together again. They agreed to rebuild the agency that had saved the world before and with that single promise to each other they spread across the globe.

The year is 2016 and The Order now works in the shadows to save the world from itself. It now exists as a privately funded International Defense Agency. They survive as a rumor and myth. Few in any agency across the globe can prove the existence of The Order. It exists, unsanctioned, to save the world from those who would destroy it.

The Rules
1. Please remain active! If you will be absent from the story, please inform the crew or myself so we can progress ahead of you, or if the role is vital enough, take on a temporary/permanent replacement.
2. If you haven’t already noticed, we’re entitled to follow Gaia Online’s rules. It’s their site!
3. If or when you have new ideas, things like new locations, don’t be afraid to share. It’s our story, and as such, your creativity is appreciated always. I’m willing to listen, though please use common sense.
4. Romance and drama is encouraged always, though if things get too nasty, be considerate and time-skip.
5. Don’t god-mod! It includes auto-hitting or controlling other characters without the user’s permission.
6. Let’s keep this semi-literate and above. I’m not expecting fifteen paragraphs all the time, but at least put some effort into your submission so other writers have enough to work with. I’d say a good minimum is eight sentences (the dialogue doesn’t count), or at the least, five good sentences. Don’t rush a post; quality and quantity.
7. If you’d like to join, put the word espionage in your application to join so I know you actually read the rules.
8. Do not begin posting until your character has been approved by me.
9. Do not speak out-of-character too often in the story. It’s okay occasionally, but there’s a thread for that.
10. When quoting other people to notify them that you’ve replied, don’t quote their entire post.
11. No, there is no limit to the amount of characters you can have, just as long as you keep up with them.
12. Please use images of real people for your characters. I have an imagination, I just would rather not spend it trying to figure out what a character would really look like.
13. You are expected to be respectful of other role-players. It’s common courtesy towards others.
