The Story
Here at the very apex of an Empire. Escad, the Usurper and his Legion of Death-Stalkers have laid siege to the Eastern boarders of Aeralith. Spreading death and disease to every passing village and township, with the aid of the Necromancer, Vadise. It is rumored that he is the ill-legitimate son of the present King, Astaroth.

It was said, that he was scorned at birth and sent away to the Isles of Vedor. To be hidden away, deep inside Tower Black. Some say, during his solitude he found a Tome that belonged to a Keeper and used its ancient and forbidden magic to awaken an Old One from its slumber. And with it, the age of Magic returned. The great awakening began, far and wide; as latent abilities tucked away in unsuspecting people began to manifest.

As magic began to grow stronger, the veil that kept the two realms separate, had thinned beyond repair. Soon, beasts and creatures from Legends and children's tales began to take life in the mortal world.

The King, under the council of his advisers saw this as an Dark Omen. He assembled an order of Knights from the 12 noble families of Aeralith. Banding them together and sent them on a quest to Tower Black, which lay across the Vermilion Sea. Unprepared and ignorant to the ways of Magic, all but one returned from the perilous journey and with him, half of the Tome and something much darker.

The Knight recounted horrific tales of Legendary Beasts, rising out of the sea and descending from the skies, all answering to the call of a child; even going into great detail about the fabled spectral knights known as the Death-Stalkers that stood guard. But, the Knight didn't return unscathed. He was the first to carry and spread the 'taint'. A madness, that ravaged the mind, leaving behind nothing more than a soulless husk, that shambled around, seeking out other souls in a ravenous nature. It was spread through a bite or a scratch and did not discriminate, from human or the other "creatures" that now shared a world with our own.

With the number of man and 'other-kin' dwindling in the wake of the taint, they have learned to set aside their fears and apprehensions to band together and fight a common enemy. The key is to find the Keepers, if any trace of them still exist.

All the while, Escad marches on towards the capital, with his army of Death-Stalkers; Aided by his lover, Vadise, the Necromancer. A woman of some renown in the Other Realm. As they seek to overthrow the King and rule in his stead. One cannot be certain if the Old One is merely using them like pawns for a more sinister goal or if it merely aids them because of its insidious nature.
