▬♦ WELCOME TO THE GROVE...
░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░

DEEP IN A SECLUDED FOREST, away from prying eyes lay the Grove. To those beyond it, it was nothing more than a wall of creeping vines. Little did they know, it housed an entire community. The wall actually acted as a gate for the Fey, who could look out and see whenever someone was passing. Only one step through and they'd find themselves in another world. Whenever an outsider got closer, a strange feeling of reluctance would take over and lead them away from the area. If one belonged in the Grove, however, they would be drawn in and no sooner find themselves among a community of individuals like themselves. These individuals were called the Accursed Fey, humans who possess unnatural abilities. The Fey are divided into many other sub-divisions, but there are mainly three types of Fey; Shifters, Casters and Ascended.

The Shifters are, as you may have guessed, Fey that are able to transform into animals. They are the protectors of the Casters and train hard to maintain the safety of the Grove. Most Shifters only realise their abilities on their seventh birthday. For those labelled as Casters, they often go their whole lives without realising the powers they had. Casters are attuned to a certain element since birth and will be more dexterous at manipulating said element as they train. Compared to Shifters, Casters were less frequent and more valuable, which is why they are guarded until adulthood by Shifters. The ratio of Casters and Shifters were 1 : 2 respectively. Both Shifters and Casters can also develop strange but nonetheless unique features along the way to becoming adults (i.e. tattoos) Last but not least, the rare Ascended.

For the ones out there hunting down the Accursed fey, these were the prime catches. The Ascended embodied the definition of Fey. They possess the keen senses of a Shifter, the ability to manipulate a certain element like Casters and, most importantly, are able to predict certain future events. Though ranked as the most powerful, each of these individuals were also marked with a curse. The type of curse differed from each one. There will always be five Ascended Fey at a time. As long as one still lives, the others can be resurrected. When resurrected, the Ascended starts back at the age they were before death and loses all memory of who they were in the past. However, if all are killed while out of the Grove, none shall live. Each Ascended was assigned at least one guard and are never allowed to leave the Grove, as it was very easy to spot an Ascended. They had wings, after all.

None of this trouble about being so restricted would exist if only the Fey were left alone. Buuuuuuuuut no. Every story had to have its own set of villains. For this one, it was the Fey-Hunters. This underground organization was run by humans who would love nothing more than to have a taste of all that power. So yes, they were only human... but it would be fatal to underestimate a Hunter. They have been trained to hunt down the Fey. It was their lifestyle and second nature. Over the years they have created frightening new weapons and various tactics. Most feared by the Fey, however, were the Trackers. Taking the blood of a Shifter (most often a wolf) and injecting it into a regular dog. The mutation was horrific. Once a Tracker scented its prey, there was no escape. They were fast and could hunt for days before they lose the scent of a Fey. And that was how the Grove's most obsolete rule came to exist; Once you've been scented, to return is no longer an option.

In other words, death over revealing the Grove's location.

For the past two months now, however, there have been no sign of the Fey-Hunters. Some of the more naive believe they've just given up and moved on to search in farther regions. Those who know better, though, are staying cautious. Now, where will you play in all of this? A curious Caster, straying out of the Grove with your friends for a bit of fun? An active Shifter just waiting to roam the vast forest around? Or maybe even a restless Ascended, tired of being cooped up in this beautiful prison.
