G.I. Joe is the a rumor highly trained Anti-Terrorism Task Force. Their existence maybe secret, but documents have been found for a Special Counter-terrorist Group Delta.
Shortly before his fateful trip to Texas, then-President Kennedy had recognized the need for a special task force to deal with violent terrorists, one that utilized the abilities of all the various armed forces to end threats to peace. To this end, he commissioned one Lieutenant Joseph B. Colton, a Vietnam veteran with great character, to form and lead Special Counter-Terrorist Group Delta, which he christened G.I. Joe.
Though Kennedy was slain shortly thereafter, his idea lived on. Colton indeed went on to form the G.I. Joe team, and led the heroic members of this force on various missions against all manner of threats to freedom, the results of which remain classified to this day. In fact, aside from Colton, even the membership of this team has yet to be revealed to the general public.
