Summary

We never thought this day would come, not as something as crazy as this. But it has happened, the undead have arrived, and not by the use of some forbidden jutsu. No, but by the works of our own hands.

During the time of the fourth great shinobi war, the scientist of Otogakure, under the order of their leader Kabuto, were begin enhancing the sound-nins. That order itself was nothing new, for they had done experiments on their shinobi before and even enhanced them, but this was different. Kabuto wanted the shinobi to not feel any pain, to survive the toughest of wounds, to have enhanced strength, to be superhuman. Like a slave fearing for their life, they began to perform the experiments and looking for a solution as quickly as possible. Time and time again, they experimented on their human test subjects, but all were in vain, either nothing happened or would end up dead because of the chemicals and various poisonous ingredients. It was not until the height of the war that the scientists were successful, well somewhat.

As soon as the test was finally over, the subject went into a bit of a frenzy, changing drastically right before their eyes. Skin turning grey as ash, pearl white eyes with no pupils, losing all thoughts of a normal individual, except for the urge to feed. It immediately bit and fed upon the scientist in the lab. No one saw this coming or the fact that the scientist also turned into the creature like the test subject.

Without any warning, they escaped the lab, infecting all who lived in Otogakure, before spreading out all over the ninja world. Because of this infestation, the war was at an end. It was safe to say neither side was victorious.

The undead's numbers grew at an alarming rate. First, they attacked all of the minor villages, laying them all to waste and adding more to their numbers, only to move on to the larger villages, such as Kusagakure and Amegakure. They too fell to the onslaught of the undead. The only villages that have survived from the onslaught thus far are four, each in a rather difficult situation.

Konohagakure (The Leaf Village) is surprisingly still around, but are always under the constant threat of the undead. With the Konoha twelve either missing or dead, the village is in a dangerous situation. The only reasons for it being around is not only the shinobi, but for the everyday villager, aiding in the defence of their great village, which has become a place for refugees.

Sunagakure (The Sand Village) is in a somewhat safer place than their ally. For the hot weather is enough to keep most of the undead away due to being unable to handle the intense heat of the sun. However, food and water is always a desperate source for survival, so they are constantly searching for the valuable resource.

Getsugakure (The Moon Village) is one village that isn't surprising to have survive this long. If it was not for the large mass of water that surrounded it, it would have been one of the first to fall to the infestation. Although, they do not get as much zombies as the mainland, they are still a bit of a problem. However, their island neighbors have made things difficult for them. Mostly in the world of politics and the possibility of facing armed conflict. It is not about money or territory but about food, which the island only has enough to sustain their own people and no one else.

Kirigakure (The Mist Village) is not as fortunate as their Getsu neighbors. The best way one can describe their situation is combining the resource issue of Suna and the onslaught of undead of Konoha. All of the surrounding islands have fallen to the zombies. Only the main island, which holds the hidden village is under the control of the living. Because of the undead's occupation, it is difficult to do any sort of fishing, which is their main way of getting food now. Many of the people are unable to get enough food because of this, some have even resorted to cannibalism. Seeing how untouched Getsu has remained, they have been putting pressure on them to hand over their food and supplies or face a possible war.

The future that many of us have hoped for has now been clouded. If nothing is done about this threat, this place never see a time of peace, but 'The Time of the Undead (Andeddo no Jikan).
