From what I've seen Ghi's are buffs you get when you form a crew.
Actually your G'hi meter is that little meter next to your health and stamina that looks like a golden G. The more it is filled up the faster you get G'hi powers (passive powers that make you stronger). You get more G'hi energy by being around other players for a few seconds (you could do a lap in barton to go trick or treating and have a full meter by the time you hit your third pumpkin)
Don't need a crew to get G'hi, but if you get a big crew going you could all keep your G'hi meters up.
