Welcome to Gaia! ::

There has been a lot of discussion and debate about how effective the common attack rings are compared to each other. As such, I took it upon myself to gather some data on Stamina used, and Damage inflicted.

The only data I need to complete my comparison is the time required for each ring to recharge.

All tests were conducted by myself, at CL 10, with all 5 Rings equipped, with no buffs except a Rage Rank 4 Teflon and my CL10 Fitness ring, all rings at CL 10, specifically on the first group of Barnacle Fluffs in the Shallow Sea. No hits were counted in this tally which finished off a fluff, as the damage value would be the remaining HP of the fluff and NOT the full damage value inflicted.

EDIT: Updated with Damage-per-Stamina. Hack calculated at 5.5 Stamina per use, and Slash at 4.5.

This is really interesting, thanks. :3
I'm also going to add a Damage-per-Stamina figure now (Hack's Stamina will be treated as 5.5 and Slash as 4.5 for this calculation).

is it also possible to do a damage/time comparison? :3~

is it also possible to do a damage/time comparison? :3~
Of course, but I would need the recharge times for such a comparison. However, the stamina values MAY overlap with the overall recharge times. Personally, I find the most noteworthy part of this the damage values of Slash.

Great info, thank you!

I've always maintained that while Mantis isn't the strongest attack, its bang for the buck and speed makes it one of the best.

XD I really do like slash - I actually prefer it to dervish for the damage it does - sure it doesn't have knockback, but you can usually take out similarly leveled animated with 2-3 hits if you position yourself correctly.

Well technically on a single target, it would approximately be the best attack... at least, it would baiscally tie with Hack, and surprisingly Slash.

There are other benefits/drawbacks to consider, were the 3 tied:
- Hack has knockback (sometimes good, sometimes not)
- Hack has slightly longer reach
- Mantis and Slash execute instantly, Hack has a slight delay
- Slash hits multiple targets (usually good, sometimes not like on the endboss, or other times when you DON'T want to aggro multiple targets)
- Mantis, by virtue of its damage being divided over more individual strikes, is better to finish enemies once low on HP while committing less Stamina and Time to the effort
- Mantis, again by virtue of using more strikes, also provides more chances to interrupt an enemy's attack
- Ninja Set >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pirate Set
- Dervish hits more targets at a much better range and area of effect, but Dervish also causes knockback and does less damage (This factors into the benefits of using or not using a full Ninja set)

Gambino Hunter

I've done well with the Ninja set, soloed up to the Gauntlet with most animated being green/gold. But it's more because those rings match my style of fighting than their actual strength. One thing I've noted that never seems to get mentioned is interupting a monster's attack. If I can keep a flurry of lower damage hits going, I seem to get hit less myself. So it may take five/six hits to bring one down, but I maybe get hit once rather than exchange hits. I get this even without the full Ninja set or using Ghost.

Granted that doesn't work in a swarm. Dervish comes into play then with a fast follow up of Shuriken or Solar Rays.
I'm sure someone has recharge time data...

Dervish costs seven?
Yikes. This thread makes me confident in my choice of mantis/slash.

I swore it used to cost 9. They might have lowered it due to nerfing the damage.
now if only some one did a the same thing you did bt whit long range attacks
aldo one who'd have to take not only damage stamina and recharge time but range and debuff ability if any
