Welcome to Gaia! ::

Wheezing Warlord

So, I, like so many other Gaians, love the new Pinball game.
But I can't help but notice how hard it is to get on.
And how long it takes.
As of today, they give you a count of the people on each server, and that server's availability.
They're pretty much always available, mainly 'cause if one goes much over 300, it's impossible to get on.

What I'm getting at is, if this is all the pinball servers can hold, what's that say about the MMO servers?
They're going to need a f***load of servers if they're planning on getting everyone on.

Discuss:
How many servers do you think they'd need to accommodate Gaia's huge community?
How many servers do you think they're really going to get?
How long do you think the MMO's going to take to load?
And anything else you have to say.

It depends on the users connection, I can get on the servers of over 700. (Durem server)
But Apparently, it's just flash, with a plugin.
So you have to first load the flash game, then you need to be able to access a server.
(Downloading the game on an empty catche makes it take loner to load, but give it some time and it should work.)

Just so ye know, the servers for pinball aren't a good indication of anything right now.
The game is still in Open Beta, which is why it wasn't officially announced, so they're still tweaking and optimizing.

The same thing is probably going to have to happen for the MMO servers.

Like I said.
It's flash that uses plugins.
Battle will use plugins, but with more connections... so I suggest possibly getting a better connection.
(or it could be your comp's end.)
And it's Alpha, not beta. 3nodding
*Smacks cookie with his cane.* Still your ignorant tongue, insolent whelp.

@Sycko; Think of it more as a learning experience. The more difficult users make it to keep pinball up and running the more they'll try to compensate for that with the MMO.

So keep trying to log in. Everyone should make as much "noise on the line" as possible so the site devs have a better idea of what to expect for the MMO rush.

Pinball is in BETA.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. wink
Pinball is in fact in beta like Cho mentioned.

Not only that, but there are always bugs and other errors still in the game that need fixings.

Gaia is almost guaranteeing that the servers will have barely any lag. Most of Gaia's games make the game and the server data itself run from the same server.

In Battle, Java will be used to play the game, but Java will run the servers. Meaning less lag and a quicker response time. :3

Hey, if you have a weak connection, there isn't much you can do about complaining to Dev's.
(Don't call me ignorant without backing up anything.)

From what I played, pinball is pretty smooth, and I haven't came across any bugs, or glitches yet.
And pinball does have java plugins, similar to how battle will upload data from gameplay in the mmo.

It's not my connection.
If it was, I'd expect lag.
stare

A lot of people have to try many, many times before actually managing to get onto pinball.
What I'm saying is, it's pretty save to assume that they'll be using the same company for the servers.
So it's probably a decent measure of what the servers can handle.
Which doesn't seem to be that much.
Even over 700 isn't that much for a large scale MMO.

Then I don't know what your problem is.
(Possibly more specs on your connection and os can help.)
And lag isn't a problem, because the java plugins relay after you do stuff.
Thus the wait time as you get stuff.
so it's like flash most of the way unless it hits a plugin trigger.
