I'm currently at 7.1 but I am still dying at the claws of those birds crying
Should I level up before taking them on?
Where is the Blood Tree ?

your level is at the lower end of optimal level for the area but you can play there to level up, have full rage rock armour , maybe meat, use bandage a lot on yourself and try to lure the animated one by one rather than taking on larger mobs.
but if it's too tiring just go play some more in the northern parts of gold beach or anywhere in zomg to level up a little more :3

the blood tree is all the way up north from the lily pads

Witch Doctors near the tree are also notorious for bringing more Witch Doctor's and Tiny Terrors after being aggro'ed.

yeah =P that area can be pretty challenging at first. certainly helps to crew up with 1 or more players.
