I'm not interested because teenage angst is a bore. I don't connect with it. I'm sure someone out there will, though, and that's what matters...besides that story structure and plotting may be nonexistence. Not everyone connects with what I write, or cares for it, which is fine.

So where do I start reading?
Sounds awesome! I'd love it.

Please feel free to tell me what you think!

Might be interesting, might not be interesting. It'll all depend on the quality of your writing, if I read this, could you make me connect with it?
Writing about your life, what's going on in the world, and all is fine. Do it. I have no idea how many would be interested in reading it based off what I know, but it'll be good for you. A few decades from now, it'll be a glimpse into the old you, and in a century? Some historian is going to love it.

So I'd say keep on journaling. When you go to put it out there, you can easily leave out the entries that don't fit, because at that point it's not longer a journal, it's a story.

Can't say I'd b interested. The Dairy of Anne Frank was interesting because of what was going on at the time, she also edited her work to some extent. I've read fictional journal type books that did somewhat well in the story they conveyed, but they actually had a story to tell.

To be honest, I don't see the point in reading something that was simply the thoughts of some random person over the course of a few years. Tons of other people have been through the things you describe and talk about them, so there isn't really anything to make this stand out from the rest. neutral

This opinion is of course my own and should you want with your journals, but you did say you wanted to know what we thought.

There are events that have gone on in the world that could be added to make it seem more historically interesting, but then again I'm not looking to be the Next Big Thing and have my book last 30+ years (though, it would be nice).
I get what you're saying, one person even asked me, " What makes you think your life is so special?".
Well, I don't think my life is special in any sort of way. My life is just as insignificant as anyone else's in the world.
Plenty of people have been through the same exact things I have and talk about them every single day.
But I'm trying to reach out to those who DON'T talk about it, or feel somewhat alone in whatever they're going through.
As for standing out, that's why I mentioned everything else I kept in my journals. Coping skills, meal plans, exercise routines, how-to's, drawings, medication information, mental health information... billions of other things I could add to make the read more interesting, interactive, and stand out from the rest; rather than just being a book you can speed read in an hour.
Maybe sort of a " Been there done that " type of book with advice and other things, but still a coherent story.

Thank you for your opinion, it is very much appreciated! heart

Welp, I thought about what you said and it still doesn't stand out that much to me. There are plenty of different types of art everywhere. There are tons of recipe books for damn near everything you can imagine. There are also tons of blogs and opinion pieces about resent events, and not so resent events. There are also plenty of stories people tell about their hardships in life. As you describe it, it sounds like you'd be smooshing all those different types of stuff together in one book. I only know of one book that did something similar and I can only describe it as one big mess.

I could of course be completely wrong about what I am picturing in my head as far as your journal-book goes since I have the one bad experience that taints everything that comes close to it for me stare Whatever you decide to do with your journal-book you should do because you want to do it and not because some stranger on the net said yay or nay to it. Put a lot of effort into it and whether it is a hit or not, at least you can say that you did everything you could to make it the best thing possible. That's all any writer can do, I think.

I think this is a very interesting idea. You must be very brave to allow people to read your innermost thoughts from the past few years, even if rewritten. I can't say that I would read it, because I don't typically enjoy journal-type books, however, there are many of those that go over very well.

In the end, if you are passionate about writing it, write it.

I have a few different ways I can go about creating a coherent story. It doesn't necessarily have to be in a journal-style, but the bulk of it would still be the writing from my journals.
Do you have any suggestions on making it more intersting?
If you were to read a journal-turned-book what kind of things would you look for, what would keep you reading or even get you to read it in the first place?

Hee, what a brave and intriguing idea! Thuu options for journaling already exist so extensively online, this somehow seems a pleasantly fresh take on the concept. Perhaps it's that you seek to bring thoughts collected, penned, safe-guarded over many years out from their hiding and into the light, thoughts that will ring all the more with your truest voice for how they were not necessarily intended to be shared.

It's always an honor to be given a peek at the inner-workings of a heart and mind; I'd be delighted and honored, should you be comfortable with sharing! ^ u^

I think you should write it. Put everything into it, if you'd like. I think it sounds really interesting, and I would love to read it.
idea I may have a great idea for a book. idea
But, it's actually just my journals for the past 4 years.
"That doesn't sound very interesting! ".
I know, I didn't think it would be too interesting either.
Then I read them through again. I was uncertain that I had even lived my own life.
Hospitalizations, drugs, relationships of every kind, sneaking out, six different highschools.
It's a roller coaster of a teenage dream.

wahmbulance I'm not looking to publish all this as a sob story. wahmbulance
I want the people who read this to connect to it.
Whether they've been through any of it or still are.
Well, maybe you haven't.
Maybe you know someone who has.

Filled with drawings, memoirs, how-to's, coping skills, poems, jokes, recipes...
You name it and it's most likely in one of my journals!
Not saying I'd include everything in the actual book (unless of course, those who would read it wanted that), my main idea has been just my life in general.
It would be rewritten, but I would also include original entries (that means no editing whatsoever!).

Please feel free to tell me what you think!
If you're interested, tell me why! If you're not, tell me why!
Also I will answer any questions, or address any concerns you might have.
heart Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day! heart
