I used to have mice in my apartment.
But we covered up the hole that they were coming through so we have no more.
I'd hate to kill any animal, but if you don't have something decent to do the job with, and traps/poison aren't working, I guess you did what you had to. If they were rabid, you were doing them a favor.
There would be a lot of rats in my area if my cat didn't kill most of them.

Personally, I'd use the sticky traps or the live traps. I don't like killing mice. Even if they are pests. Bugs, however, are a different story.


Those sticky traps are fecking inhumane.

To the OP.
Killing them with the bat would have been more humane than poisons. Perhaps you should just perfect your strike so you don't have to hit them multiple times.
Oh, and rats and mice rarely get rabies.
