Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hello there, how are you? It's my pleasure to welcome you to M.I.G ! (Mixies International Group).

I'm Whitney and I am passionate about mixed people and multiculturalism. My nationality is Creole and I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the second largest city in Oklahoma, I am mixed with French, African, German, Native American[chreokee] & Spanish [Spain]and a very open and positive girl at that. You'll discover a lot about other cultures and foreign view points! We are also a group of fun, laid back and very friendly people and we love new people!!! So relax !! I know this is a very controversial topic and opinions will undoubtedly differ. I am so thrilled you've decided to join us for what could be ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE 21ST CENTURY!: MULTIRACIALISM

Let me first start off by saying that in order for you to understand where we are coming from as multiracials, YOU MUST LEAVE ALL PRE-CONCEIVED IDEAS AND TABOOS AT THE DOOR ! ... For example, we are not racist toward other ethnic groups and love every human beings alike. So many times this is the false idea (that mixed people are racist and exclusive) many people have on groups that cater to multiracials. As mixed people, we really do not care about race that much bc we are mixed with so many races and see it pointless to focus on race, BUT BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A RACIALLY CONSCIOUS WORLD WHERE WHAT RACE ONE IS AFFECTS ONE'S IDENTITY, this support group was created. I love what I read on the racialicious site: "Mixed people, especially those who are part white, are often accused of lacking legitimacy as people of color (”he’s not really black” or “she’s not Asian enough“). And more recently, we’re seeing more and more instances where mixed people are accused of exploiting their racial ambiguity for personal gain."

Now you begin to see why this group is important for people to understand who they are as mixed race individuals and break all the negative stereotypes

I have many friends from every possible ethnic and cultural backgrounds so if you thought I was one of those racial supremacists, you got it all wrong !! As a matter of fact read this topic that I started.... MY DREAM IS TO LIVE IN A RACELESS WORLD The politics surrounding mixed race people is extremely ambiguous. Mixed race images have been manipulated by both ends of the political spectrum in order to diminish the racism people of color experience on a daily basis. On the Conservative end, it has been argued that the blurring of racial lines eliminates the usefulness of race as a distinguishing social category. On the other hand, liberals claim that the interracial relationships that produce mixed children are proof that people of color are well integrated into a multicultural society and in turn racial tensions decrease or are nonexistent. Both views are out of proportion and leave mixed race people to be practically non-existant. SO WHO IS MIXED? WHO CAN CLAIM TO BE MIXED? To get a better idea, read our topic called: EVERYONE'S MIXED What we are trying to achieve is to help other multiracials who do not fit within monoracial societes (Western, Eastern and African) as they are made for monoraces for the most part, by letting them (blasian, eurasian, hapa, mestizo, mulatto, amerasian, creole, griffi, metis, melungeon, latino, cuban, brazilian, etc)express themselves on the beauties and pains of being a multiracial. For indeed, being a multiracial is such a beautiful and amazing experience mixed with hardships but I know I don't just speak for myself when I say that I would never have it any other way. We would like to form a group where we can come without fear and discuss every possible topic...communication is key to improving social skills, knowing where one stands and feeling good in one's head. We would like to advance in all spheres of life and dyspel myths on us. Make our lives better in other words, bc it is not always easy darlings!!! smile There is no denying we are marginalised in society but before you think I am depressing, think about it....is it so bad to talk about reality, something that truly exists and something that was seen as taboo in previous generations, but no longer is We often do not fit people's idea of a race. WE ARE OUTSIDE THE NORM, people ! smile I personally think that's GREAT! But many don't... so we need to stand for ourselves and claim all that we are still missing. LETS START BY CHANGING THE PUBLIC MENTALITY SURROUNDING PEOPLE OF MIXED BACKGROUNDS. OK....this isnt rocket science... you get my point smile . People have different ethnicities attached to them with different cultural values and habits and that is a good thing. Now where do multiracials fall ? (...and yes I know we are human beings first and foremost....but try to see things from a realistic view point, not idealistic at this time). Thanks 4 readin' this anyways and feel free to disagree.

P.S. : I do not bite, feel free to PM me anytime...I answer ALL !!!

Yet you're wanting us to join something about being mixed, which if we are noticing we are mixed and shoving it out, isn't that somewhat racist. Besides, "Everyone is a little bit racist sometime" Totally listen to it by Avenue Q. Also, our culture is what makes us diverse, and racist comments are usually truthful, not all, but most. Racism is ineitable. People will always try to be. Just because you're saying " We Aren't Racist!" doesn't have me fully convinced. Good luck, though.
Also, you're contradicting, which doesn't help.
Hey I remember you. You started that Mutliracial thread I liked so much a while back.

Anyways
