✘Alexander Pledge was born to a mother and a father, Jane and Gregory, on January 8, 1978. Childhood was not an awkward thing for young Alex. He had as many friends as the streets of Chicago would allow him. He was a quiet boy, but not so much as not to enjoy going outside to play or board-night with the family. They were always struggling when growing up, so televisions and computer games was not quite accessible to him, though he would visit the arcade now and again to play some of the coin-operated machines. He adored his father and from that, tried to emulate his dear, old Dad as best he could. His mother was a different story. She wasn't cold, but the two were stand-offish. The relationship never came to anything other than the cold stare or rare moment of warmness. They just seemed like they were two different people. That gave Alex a bit of awkwardness when it came to women growing up.

That changed in High School with the meeting of one Ms. Magdalene Forester. Alex had tried out for football at the time, being forced into it by his father with minimal griping and she was on the student council. The two hit it off rather quickly and one of the relationships that would shape his life started. There was never any question they were going to continue outside school, as there was never any question that there would be another for him. He loves his wife more than anything else in his life, his daughter notwithstanding.

College followed rather quickly. A blur of school went by, as did the academy. There was never any doubt in his mind that he was going to carry a badge of some sort as his father was a beat cop. He went for a degree in sociology and joined the academy immediately afterward. He excelled, as he felt like he was training to do this all his life and was snatched quickly by the Bureau. He had an eye on becoming a homicide detective, but he at least wanted to put in his time on the streets, which delayed his entry. After some thought, he joined the Bureau to the dismay of his father. The Bureau to his old man was just as bad as the IAB and was disheartened that his son would join the "snakes". Alex tried to talk to his father about it, but all he got out of it was a screaming contest. He left the home angry and when the news of his father's death that night of heart failure hit him, he could only quietly blame himself.

Bureau was more than he hoped for and in a somewhat of an overcompensating way, he flourished to prove to his father in heaven that he had made the right choice. Alex was never too religious, but God found him soon after that. Many were shocked to find him somewhat devout about his new relationship with God, but he was proud to proclaim it. It wasn't soon after that he received his first gift, as he likes to call her, Jenna.

Born October 9, 2003, Jennifer Pledge first opened her eyes and Alex's life went from devout husband to devout father. About that same time, Alex was promoted to agent. He was all smiles back then; nothing in the world was bad or terrible.

That changed with his third case. They say third one's a charm, but nothing haunts a man like unfinished business, especially personal business. He arrives on the case, the look in his eyes that of any happy parent, to a nursery that had been rampaged by a sicko with a shotgun. 15 accounted for bodies out of the 19 that had been there. Bite marks were in the small bodies and Alex could only hope that the children were dead when those marks came. There was no way to tell from the mess. Jenna's face was superimposed on every one of those little bodies and anger and bile only came up when he laid eyes on the small body bags. Alex promised himself to find this guy and bring the fury on him.

That promised was never kept. The guy disappeared off the map. There were no other cases like it for a year and he became obsessed with finding the criminal but nothing came of it. The case was left open, but he was moved to other cases and he was fiery about solving them then ever before. He has been known to flake out of his family outings and promises he makes with his daughter because of his devotion. Everyone that has ever entered his office knows why. That case, that third case, has tainted him. Along his walls are reports of like cases. He's still hunting for that murderer and it is likely he will never forget until the business is settled.

✘He has a pet rock, carried with him at all times, named "Rocky" or "Ol' Rocky". He was twelve when he named it and Ol' Rocky has seen better days. Originally given to him at the size of a baseball, Rocky has been chipped, cracked, and eroded to the size that Alex can hide him in his palm. Yes, Rocky is a "he".

Alex is somewhat of a false technophobe. He plays it up that he prefers a typewriter or a car with no electronics, but since the revelation of the PDA to him, he has been known to backslide. It isn't that he hates or is afraid of the things, he just is illiterate to them and would rather claim anger than ignorance. When something new to him with technology is discovered and he has the ability to use it, he uses it with enthusiasm. Recently, he has bought a new car and nearly every OnStar agent knows him by name.

He is a respectable marksman, though far from the best. His favorite board game is Jenga and plays it by himself when in fits of brainstorming. Magdalene has made him check in with a therapist after the "Third Case" incident and continues to maintain a weekly visit on Wednesdays.
