hi, I've never played pathfinder before but I have a friend thats getting a group together and he said he'll teach me. but in the mean time I'm trying to come up with an idea for my character, his personality and such.

He is a human fighter and these are his stats.

STR: 16
DEX: 13
CON: 11
INT: 15
WIS: 13
CHA: 7

so yeah, I'm trying to come up with a reason to explain his high intelligence and wisdom but explain his very low charisma. I'd appreciate any idea's, I'm kind of stumped as to think of what his personality would be like.

Beloved Lunatic

An easy way to play smart but uncharismatic is to be a smart a**. You could also just be distant, always lost in thought -- never really paying attention to how others feel.

Tipsy Nymph

Detached and unempathic, a bit of a know-it-all as well.

Also, unrelated; Damn, your stats are lower than a Jamaican Limbo...

well I'm level 1, and we were given 15 to distribute.

Oh, that'd do it... My GM required that everyone roll their stats. 4 d6's, drop the lowest.

Only 15 points, though? That's shitty...

I've never played before so I don't have anything to compare it to. why whats the norm then for stat distribution?

Typically games beyond 5th level have character built using 20-25 points, or rolled stats. Example, my 2nd level Tengu Musketeer has 16 Str, 20 Dex, 11 Con, 14 Int, 18 Wis, and 15 Cha.

And I'm better in melee than the fighter...

The reason being that once enemies hit CR 10 or higher, you simply cannot out-pace them in terms of damage or capability.with your spread.

well like I've said I've never played before but I'm sure my friend the DM will take that into consideration. most of us in the group are new to it so I think we'll be fine. or it'll just be crazy difficult and be a slaughter fest haha.

You could have him tutored at home while being sheltered. he learned everything he needed in life from teachers fighting, schooling, tactics. maybe being a noble or royalty to better explain this. and second son so hes not being groomed to take over and thus had his ability to speak with others in a comfortable and proper manner neglected.

In other words hes a spoiled brat.
Given that it's your first game,
(and I'm known locally for being the GM that takes on new players)
My suggestion would be to play the character as close to yourself as possible until you get used to playing.
Also, remember that when it comes to your first character you ARE being judged,
no matter who it is you play with they are judging your character,
and by proxy the actions they take reflect you.
I've seen lots of new players who want to play characters, but don't realize that because people don't know them...
that they will be judged as if their characters choices and actions are their own.

So yeah...
Just play it safe for your first character or two...
Don't worry, if you keep playing you'll have plenty of time and characters to do special idea's that you want.

Personally I always have people roll a d8 and add 10.

That's an interesting roll method and one I've never come across before.

lol I made it up so that is likely why you haven't.

But it is a lot less complicated in my opinion.
