It began over 80 years ago. As a small, quaint town the Kingston citizens kept to themselves as they went through every day life. So when a structure quickly appeared after two weeks of construction it took everyone by surprised. It was almost as if Blessed Dreams Hall appeared without a moment’s notice in the middle of the night, all thanks to the owner of the new establishment, Darion Picoult. With a mysterious building and a newcomer it wasn’t long until many of Kingston’s residents were curious enough to wander over. What they saw was beyond their imagination. The Blessed Dreams Hall was a four story hotel equipped with every need necessary for its guests. Everything in the building was top notch in that time. The staff paid extra care to the guests and it wasn’t unusual to see Picoult himself greeting everyone with a generous smile and a warm handshake. But it wasn’t just the customer service nor the fancy, classy surroundings. No one is fully able to explain why they feel so relaxed when they arrive through the glistening doors of the hotel, nor how after their stay all of their problems seemed to have faded away. Truly from the sound of it it was the place to be. For the next fifty years the hotel was constantly booked. It was hard to get a room but it didn’t stop people – vacationers and celebrities alike – to make a reservation in no time.

Yes, during those fifty years everyone believed the Blessed Dreams Hall would never go out of business. At the ripe age of 75, Darion Picoult was found dead in his office. Some say he died of a heart attack, and others claim he was poisoned by someone. Either way rumors spread and to this day no one knows the real story. With his death it seemed the glamour of Blessed Dreams Hall died with him. Bit by bit guests stopped coming; members of the staff turned in their resignation for better jobs. Eventually the hotel shut down a year after his death and stayed empty for years. The property remained in the Picoult family but no one bothered to do anything with it. Instead the hotel sat aside as Kingston slowly expanded until it became the city it is today. The residents of Kingston forgot about the hotel. The glory of Blessed Dreams Hall became a thing of the past, until six years ago. You see, ads appeared in the paper one day to announce the hotel was accepting applications for residents, as if it were an apartment complex. As it turns out it did. The Blessed Dreams Hotel opened its doors once more under new management with a new set of rules.

Time passed by before finally an application arrived. It didn’t take long when there were quite a few applications delivered to the address. It was even shorter to wait for a response. Each applicant was accepted without question. It shocked them as the official first five residents arrived at the doorstep to the hotel. There they met the new proprieter, whose name is none other than Darion Picoult, the same as the man who first built the establishment. He gave each resident a key to their new home, and asked them all one question, as if it were a simple one to answer rather than holding any hidden meaning to it. “What are you running from?”

Five years have passed and the Blessed Dreams Hotel is quite busy. No, it isn’t the same as it was so many years ago, but it has a different charm. People of all kind have made this old hotel their home, as a sanctuary or for something else. It’s not unusual to notice that each resident has a certain secret from their past. All in all, the Blessed Dreams Hotel welcomes all.

❀ GAIA TOS

Let's keep this short, simple, and easy to understand. Follow Gaia TOS and, of course, the roleplay basics. No major violence though a fight now and then would be fabulous for drama, of course. Romance of course is perfect; if your chars need to bump uglies, time skip it or keep it as vague as possible. Really vague. So vague that it's invisible. This is an open roleplay, meaning all genders/sexuality are accepted in here. If you have anything snarky to say about it bugger off. Speaking of snarkiness, keep any major arguments to yourselves and if it does get out of control in the OOC, pad, and/or Skype, I will step in. Let's keep this peaceful as possible, m'kay? If there are any questions whatsoever, please feel free to quote or pm me, and if it is majorly related to the story and such I'll post it in the FAQ section.

❀ THE MODS

As the creator of this lovely roleplay I am the main mod. That's right. I am the Almighty Chai. Fear me. There are also two lovely co-mods that are/will help me run this roleplay, and they are KTGomasaur and Okami_Kurisutaru. Please treat them respectfully as they are my helpers and any ignorance towards them will not be taken lightly as they will help me keep this story alive. It takes a village to raise one child, right? But as of right now, anything I - or the others - say goes. Okay? Okay. Carry on.

❀ LITERACY

BDH is a lazy lit roleplay. Meaning I and mod(s) will not be cracking the whip every single time we see a big mistake such as spelling and grammar. Minimum paragraph count is 3 paragraphs, and minimum word count is 600 words, so think of it as 200 words per paragraph. Can't make that quota? Don't worry. Every now and then someone gets writer's block and can't come up with the minimum. Which is fine, but please don't let this happen too often.

❀ POSTING

How lazy is this roleplay? Lazy enough to wear sweatpants out in town and not caring at all. Why is this lazy? Because everyone has a life outside of Gaia; school, work, etc. I for one work two jobs so it does take me a moment to get back to posts. So to sum this up, one post per week is required to participate. If you are somehow unable to post due to real life be sure to let me know, either through PMs, OOC, and/or Skype. Also, plotting is a big requirement for BDH. If you can't plot, then this isn't the place for you. If anyone disappears without a trace, I will make sure your char disappears the same way.

❀ LAYOUTS

A post layout should at least include a picture of your face claim and their name. You can include their role if you would like but it isn't a big requirement. Make sure the speech is either colored and/or bolded and thoughts are in italics, that way it's easier for the readers to separate which is which. Avoid uber bright colors if you can because that's like shining a freakishly bright flashlight in your eyes without warning, which hurts. Does the layout have to be pretty? Not really, but if anyone needs a decent graphic please feel free to ask me, or if you would like, anyone that is available in this roleplay that can make graphics.

❀ CHARACTERS

This is a "fantasy" modern roleplay. Modern as in more cell phones, cars, modern day clothing rather than running around with swords and wearing kimonos. That only happens in Gin Tama and this is definitely not that. Face claims can either be anime or art, and when it comes to picking the FC, make sure they're not "uber" overused. The maximum a roleplayer can play is 2 characters. Nothing more than that. All in all feel free to be as creative as you want with your character.

❀ APPLICATION

After filling out the reserve make sure to title your PM to me as your role (ex: THE OWNER). Once I review and accept it that gives you a week to fill out the profile. When that's finished title your PM with your character's name (ex: Daniel Picoult). I'll go over it and if there's any changes needed I'll be sure to let you know. And after that's accepted you are free to post in the main thread. Also as a heads up, the reserves are first come first serve, so if I get more than one PM with the same title the first person who sent it in will get the spot.

❀ WHERE IS KINGSTON EXACTLY?

It's a fictional city, somewhere in the central part of United States. As for it's size, think of it as a somewhat big city. Not as big as Chicago or New York for example since those places are huge but it isn't the size of an average town. Think of it's origins as Las Vegas. It started out very small in the middle of nowhere and built itself from the bottom up.

❀ WHY IS THIS ROLEPLAY SO SLOW?

This is basically a slow paced roleplay, hence the one post a week requirement. Why is that? Notice how BDH opened in October, which is fairly close to the end of the year. Lots of stuff happens around this time. Finals for school, a good portion of places will be open for Thanksgiving/Black Friday (//shudders), and most players here will be spending time with their families for the holidays instead of being on Gaia. Now if you and another person are consistently keeping up with posts more than once a week where your characters are interacting with one another, that is perfectly fine. Fabulous actually since it means y'all still have an interest in BDH, heheh. Just be sure you don't leave anyone behind cause that's no fun at all.

❀ I WANT TO JOIN BUT IT LOOKS FULL. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

Absolutely! Just because all the roles are filled doesn't mean we won't accept anymore characters. Send me a pm with a character idea, suggesting what kind of role you want and just a quick blurb about your character. If you pitch a unique character role/idea I'll give you the go ahead to make your reserve. Though keep in mind that when making your char the role should be different from the others. For example, we don't want two 'Actors' or two 'Teachers'. We want one of each.

UPDATE So because we have a sudden increase of characters 24 Sweet Murphy we are currently only accepting two more characters, both male only roles. If you don't want those exact roles but have a better idea for it, go ahead and pitch me the idea and I will talk with you about it (though they still have to be male). But once those roles are filled we will not be accepting any more characters, though we will make a waiting list for those who would still want to join in the future.

❀ WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION FORBDH?

Excellent question. Most of this is made up from imagination and creativity from my slowly thinking brain but some of this is based off of a manga called The Sleepy Residents of Birdcage Manor. Mainly the roles though, such as the Runaway, the Artist, and the Crossdresser. If you would like to read this manga, follow this link here.

❀ IS EVERYONE ONLY LIMITED TO WANDER IN THE BUILDING?

Nope! They can go around Kingston as well, even past Kingston if they want to.

❀ DO I HAVE TO HAVE A CHARACTER THAT'S LIVED THERE FOR AWHILE?

You can if you want to. The story states that five people besides Darion started to live there and after that it has grown. So you can be one of the original five, or if you want, you can be a resident that is just moving in. It's your choice.

❀ WHAT'S THE FLOOR PLAN LIKE FOR BDH?

The building has four floors and approximately 15 rooms per floor, adding up to about 60 rooms inside. Most of the rooms are one bed, one bath rooms considering they were once hotel rooms before being remodeled; there are a few two bed/one bath rooms on the floors but not as many as the latter, so probably about eight or ten in total. The rooms include small kitchens also (the main kitchen is generally used for big events).
