Black and red is the worst color combination for more avatar makers.
it is almost impossible to pull off, and you aren't doing it justice.
maybe add another colour in, like white. and as it is your colour distribution is quite poor.
your facial expression is awful and the stuff on the head is awkward.

So I love the arm mod on this avatar but it just looks so plain compared to the rest of the avatar. I'd lose the arm mod if I were you. or maybe pair down the rest of the avatar. go for a little less of the complex clutter

I think the colour of the pants is a little to blue. but tbh I don't have much to say about this avatar. it is absolutely adorable. but not particularly technically strong, which isn't a bag thing. it just lessens how much I have to say about it. I like it though.

I am guessing that you have changed your avatar since then. this looks like a hot mess. nothing really matches, there is no clear theme and it is very cluttered.

Don't give up on overdone themes! those can be the most rewarding once you get them to be succesful. one of my favorite avatars was a magical girl one ;D
