Ashton has always had a loud and optimistic personality. Even when dealing with trouble as a child, he always managed to stay calm and keep a happy face, and he always saw the best in people. He knows he is talented, and because of this, he has a high ego and often comes off as arrogant - although since the accident, Ashton has changed quite a lot. Although he still tries to stay optimistic, he finds it much harder to do so, and he feels that he has no future. Despite this, he tries his hardest to put on a happy face around others, not letting anyone see what he is truly feeling. He hates to be stared at unless he is performing, and often feels like other people are judging him or making assumptions about him.

Ashton was born into a family of performers; by the time he was born, his mother, Bailey, had performed in over fifty plays, and his father, Dwight, had performed in multiple Off-Broadway musicals, as well as two Broadway shows. Naturally, Ashton's parents were very quick to adapt him to the stage; he was only three years old when he portrayed the role of Tommy (age four) in Tommy, and he continued to act and perform on stage for all of his childhood. When he was only two years old, his younger sister, Serenity, was born, and Ashton was close to her from a young age. Most of both Serenity and Ashton's time was spent taking dance classes, acting workshops, voice lessons, and piano lessons, and although he was decent at everything, Ashton picked up piano faster than anything else, and he enjoyed it immensely. He was determined to become a concert pianist, but his stress often got to him. Ashton obtained terrible grades throughout school due to a mixture of his own inability to learn the subjects and his stress, and he failed both first and fifth grade, as well as multiple singular classes throughout his school years. Despite this, his parents continued to pressure Ashton, going so far as to tell him that theatre and music was more important than school. Ashton and Serenity both planned to apply to Julliard, Ashton as a music major and Serenity as a theatre major, but as fate would have it, their car was struck by a drunk driver when Ashton was only sixteen years old. Both cars quickly erupted into flames, and Ashton was trapped in the burning car for quite a while. He, Serenity, and the drunk driver were all taken into the ICU, and Serenity did not make it through the night. Ashton survived, but his entire body was covered with scars; both of his arms, all of his legs, and just a little under half of his face and neck are covered in burn scars. Making matters worse, Ashton's muscles and nerve endings were damaged tremendously, and the doctors told him he would probably never regain the full use of many body parts, including his hands. This came as a huge shock to Ashton, and the doctors were proved right; Ashton was unable to play even a simple melody on his piano any longer. Since then, Ashton has given up on his dream of being a concert pianist, and has found that things that had once come naturally to him are near impossible for him now.

Nicolas is a very bitter, irresponsible young man. Most of his time, aside of sleeping, is spent getting high, getting drunk, or having sex. This often gets him into arguments with his brother, but Nicolas only shakes this off with sarcasm. He does have a slight temper, but it is extremely rare for him to explode with anger; he usually just responds with sarcasm. Underneath his selfish and irresponsible behavior, however, Nicolas does have a soft side. Although he tries to hide it, Nicolas will do what he can to help others if the situation calls for it, and he loves children. More than anything, Nicolas wants to turn his life around and pursue a career as a history teacher, but he doesn't know where to begin, nor does he have the motivation to pursue it as a career option.

From an early age, Nicolas's parents were slightly strict on him, but this did more harm than good; Nicolas was very misbehaved as a child. When his brother, Jamie, moved out, however, Nicolas's behavior changed dramatically, and for a couple years, Nicolas was the ideal son - until his sophomore year of high school, when Jamie, who had recently become corrupt in his career as a police officer, pressured Nicolas into selling weed to his peers with him. It wasn't until the beginning of his senior year that Nicolas was introduced to heroin by a friend, and although he was hesitant to try it, he did so anyways and became addicted. He continued to sell weed and even began to prostitute himself to pay for his addictions, and his parents found out about his heroin addiction shortly after Nicolas (barely) graduated. They threatened to kick him out of the house or send him to rehab if he didn't quit. Nicolas obliged, and was clean for a year - until he gave in to his urges and started using again. This time, he was more secretive, but when he was 20, he experienced a bad overdose. His parents found him in his bed, not breathing, and he was quickly taken into emergency care. Nicolas was in a coma for two days, but came out of it alive and was put into rehab after, where he met a man named Jason. The two quickly developed a relationship, and Nicolas was very happy with his life. Three years after he met Jason, however, they experienced a bad break up, and Nicolas began using once again. His parents found out a year later, and they kicked him out of the house. Nicolas moved in with Jamie, intending it to be a short term thing, but found that it benefit both of them: Jamie would sell Nicolas drugs he stole during drug busts, which meant Nicolas had a steady way of getting drugs. He is still unemployed, but still sells weed and prostitutes himself to earn money.

Maddy was born premature via surrogate mother to a gay couple named Arthur and Christian, and as a result, she was hospitalized for quite a while after her birth. She survived with a few short term breathing and heart problems, but for the most part was okay. The next few months were normal, until she was diagnosed with a very mild case of cerebral palsy; this prohibited her from speaking until she was three and walking until she was four. Her fathers grew to become extremely protective over her, and for the first few years of her life, she was home schooled. Maddy was nine years old when her fathers sent her to a private school, finally deciding to give school a chance. In high school, Maddy did exceptionally well; she ended up graduating a year early. Despite this, she did not go to college straight away. She was dealing with her mixed feelings of what she wanted to do for a living: her fathers wanted her to be a successful lawyer or doctor, while Maddy was interested in hair and cosmetology. Eventually, she decided on being a hair stylist and cosmetologist, much against her fathers' wishes, and began to attend school for it.

AJ has a fairly high level of self confidence. He knows he is both an intelligent and dedicated young man, and he believes he has the potential to do great things in life, but often questions himself. For the first few years of his life, AJ lived a very happy childhood. It wasn't until AJ hit puberty that he came to realize that his feelings of attraction were directed members of the same sex. His family had made their stance on homosexuality very clear, and because of this, AJ was afraid to tell them anything about it. He kept it a secret in hopes that he would become attracted to girls, but the feeling never escaped. When he was twelve years old, AJ was shocked to find out that not only was he gay, but so was one of his closest friends, Holly. Holly confided in AJ before telling anyone else about her sexuality, but AJ reacted very harshly, rejecting her as a friend and making it a point to keep her out of his life; he feared that being around her would make his own sexuality more prominent. The older he got, however, the harder he found hiding his sexuality. AJ was the vice president of his senior class, and Ryan, the openly gay president, often had to spend a lot of time with him. AJ found himself being attracted to Ryan over time, and eventually, AJ gave in to his urges and kissed Ryan. He threatened harm to Ryan if he were to ever tell anyone. This made the rest of the year rather awkward, but AJ managed, eventually graduating with a 4.3 GPA and involvement in multiple clubs and two sports. Because of bad ACT scores, however, AJ was not accepted into his first school of choice, nor his second. This was a crushing blow - both of his older brothers had been accepted into his top-choice university, and his parents had been pressuring him for quite a while, but AJ instead settled for his third choice. He is currently living with his parents and attending school to be a pediatrician.

It also didn’t help that his mother was in the army and spent a lot of time relocating or that his father was a busy lawyer. Thus, left to his own devices much of the time, Prosper withdrew. He became mute by choice and has learned sign language as a means of communicating in addition to only using his phone for texting purposes. Currently he is in his father’s care.
