The comments from Lt. Michael Shaw came after Raymone Jackson, 24, of Inkster, appeared in court on a first-degree murder charge and was sent back to jail with no bond.

"The child was the intended target," Shaw told reporters outside court. "He was going to kill the child in front of this guy and then kill him afterward so that it would be the last thing he sees."

The girl was shot in the head Tuesday while on the porch of an Inkster home. Inkster police believe it was retaliation for a shooting in April.

Besides murder, Jackson is also charged with attempted murder, torture and other crimes. Kamiya's father, Ken French, 34, and a family friend, 12-year-old Chelsea Lancaster, were also shot and are in a hospital. It wasn't immediately known if Jackson has an attorney.

"Anybody that feels that they can execute a child in the state of Michigan, we're going to go after them with everything that we can," Shaw said.

The toddler has been identified by police as Kamiya Gross. But Mary Mazur of the medical examiner's office said the girl's mother identified her as Kamiya French.

Chelsea's grandfather said she had surgery to remove bullets from her stomach area.

"She's going to make a 100 percent recovery, but it's just going to take time," Darrell Holt said.

I seriously hope they seek the death penalty for this child killer. He is an unforgiven sick b*****d.

Children tend to be more innocent then adults and human instinct to care about children.

They should just go ahead and kill him, or better yet use him for experimentation, that would at least make him useful.

Of course he cares. Revenge is usually generated by personal insult one has suffered or perceived to have suffered. You have to value what has been insulted in order to get revenge.

WTF do you expect a child to give, exactly? The girl was 2 when she was killed.... SHe was pretty innocent. At age two you're not even in preschool yet.

What do you expect a child to give you? In case you didn't realize, the reason injured or murdered children sparks rage in the community is because THEY ARE KIDS. They have NOT started out their lives yet and they're still growing, still learning, still seeing the right and wrongs, and having a kid traumatized or killed is the biggest a*****e. The one who says children are assholes are assholes themselves, so you know what you are.

And you are incredibly wrong; in court, the cases and penalties given varies. Sometimes they are given a super heavy sentence for a light offense, or a light sentence for a heavy offense.

At age two, the child is 100% innocent. The reason she had no morality yet was because SHE WAS STILL GROWING, and that is why she is innocent. She had no idea, and for some b*****d to take a child at that innocent little age who hasn't even started preschool yet is a monstrous, heartless act, and any nightmare for any parent. Don't you realize how heartbroken the father must be to see his child get slaughtered right in front of him, or are you too busy being a troll to realize this?
