I was hoping to hear from someone who's more familiar with samurai movies than I am. I have this association in my head between old Japanese action movies and disco, but I can't for the life of me remember where I got this association.

Does anyone know whether disco was common in older movies? Was it a particular director or time period? Or am I just finding links where there are none?

Disco really took off in the late '70s.
The old samurai movies that I immediately think of (Orochi, Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail) are from the '20s and '40s.
So, not a lot of disco influence in those.
