Honestly, it's easiest to replace one habit with another slightly less damaging one.

Such as snapping(rubber bands) instead of cutting.
Or, chewing a lot of gum to keep your mouth busy when trying to quit smoking.

If you're having anger issues or other craving, counting to ten is supposed to help calm you down.

What kind of habits are you trying to break, I'm sure the internet can help more specifically, and I'd be willing to do the looking for you if you want.
