I hate to have to be the contrarian in the room, but I wasn't the least bit sad when Drogo, or as I like to call him, Attila the Rapist, died. I also suspected the local witch poisoned his wound to begin with rather than treating it.
Ned Stark definitely frustrated me when he died. That said, I do think it was a great plot point. Ned Stark didn't
deserve to die, but he
had to for the sake of the plot.
You know who I wish didn't get killed off? Ros, Petyr's prized prostitute.
I understand where you're coming from. I wasn't very fond of him in the beginning as well when he first raped Dany. But you have to keep in mind, in the books he really wasn't a rapist and only consummated with her once she gave her consent. In the series however, for the sake of making him look like the ruthless dominant barbarian he was, they made him so. Yes, there is stockholm syndrome in this, but nonetheless, their love for one another was wholesome . . .at least in the books. Which is good enough for me to keep adoring him.
Agreed. With Eddard's Stark death, there would be no plot, still sad to see him die though.
Not going to lie, I skipped the books, and don't plan on reading them until the series is over, and maybe not even then. That said, rape was kind of par for the course for the entire culture they had. I'm almost impossible to offend, so none of it bothers me, I just find the fact that all the female users I find are going gaga over Attila the Rapist.
I've been very tempted to make a "Daenerys Targaryen is a Mary Sue" thread because that's how I actually perceive her, but I think that might be a bit trollish since she's so popular.
