I downloaded a sample on my Kindle to see what the fuss was about and I did not think it was well written at all.
A lot of people like these books. I slogged through the first book in the series and, for me, it just never paid off. I think I understand the commercial popularity, and at times I liked both main characters, but there was way too much emotional head game playing going on by both of them. I finished the first book and had zero desire to see where the next book went.

With all that said, I'm aware 50 Shades started out as "Twilight" fan fiction. I think James did a much better job at characterization than Meyer.

I read part of it, and it's not even good porn. I genuinely don't see the appeal.

Fifty shades of s**t
I don't want to sound rude or anything...
But I have noticed that people who don't usually read books, end up liking Fifty Shades of Grey.
And people who DO enjoy a good book once in a while, and have enjoyed a variety of stories.. don't see the big fuss about Fifty Shades of Grey.

I've yet to find someone who are actually into books, and enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey.

I am actually a very avid reader, I also enjoy a wide variety of books and I have loved novels since I was a small child. I use a website called shelfari where I can explore new books to read, check off books I have read and according to that site I have read over 240 books, of all different types. Normally I don't read books because of the hype which is why I haven't read twilight yet.. but I enjoyed 50 shades mostly for the character Christian Grey and I'm a sucker for romance stories. Not all readers are going to read and like the same books. Your comment was extremely judgmental and a bit rude. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I mean the main characters in "Fifty Shades" had actual character. "Twlight" offered no memorable or interesting characters.
i read all three over the summer to see what all the fuss was about. Christian scared the s**t out of me tbh
