I have always have a personal love towards the YS series and it's music. The gameplay and the music has been so fitting,

Personally one of my favorite ones, despite the area being the one I hate the most.

Oh and have to love Bastion, build that wall song.

Sonic the Hedgehog music is always amazing, even when the game sucks.

My favorite songs would have to be out of Sonic 3 & Knuckles and the Sonic Adventure series.

I like all of Majora's Mask's, Xenosaga III, Morrowind, and Sonic Adventures 2 soundtracks. I also enjoyed "Burn my Dread" from Persona 3. Twas a nice song.

Many tracks from Symphony of the Night, notably...

...Bomberman 64 also stands out surprisingly, in every aspect... but largely the music.

A video game music thread, yet absolutely no mention of Ico or Shadow of the Colossus. Gaia, I am disappoint.

Anyway, aside from those 2 gems, nothing beats Jesper Kyd's work on the Assassin's Creed series (those he was involved with, at least). Ezio's Story will always be my favourite, next to Revelation's Main Theme (although the AC3 theme was very quick to grow on me). The amount of emotional attachment those songs have is just phenomenal.

Others worthy of mention are:
Metroid Prime 1 and 2
Dark Souls
Ni No Kuni
Journey
Sacred 2 (only because of Blind Guardian. **** yeah! m/)
Brutal Legend (the original scores, not the playlist -- though of course, they are bad***)
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (I am a huge sucker for Celtic tunes)
Deus Ex 1 and 3

I would have say the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack has been on my top 5 list for sometime now on my ipod. That and Clint Mansell is bloody magical when it comes to scores.
