I don't understand the puritanism. I think that there is plenty of suitable metal influenced or core genres that can be placed here. I mean if you go to J&R in New York City, you'll find that they put everything except classical, jazz, and folk into contemporary.

This forum is for metal. This forum is not for any thing else. Metalcore stems from hardcore roots, not from metal. Thus it goes in the main music forum.

Then why the word metal? Also many deathcore or grindcore bands cite metal influences. Between the Buried and Me and Black Dahlia Murder were on Metal Blade records alongside bands like Goatwhore, Cannibal Corpse, and even Amon Amarth. Animosity definitely had metal influences. I don't even think there are a lot of hardcore roots in metalcore. Hardcore to me is a totally corrupted term. Hardcore punk is too raw to really be directly related to metalcore. If anything I believe post-hardcore, such as At the Drive In, is more related to the commercial core bands.
