It had been ten years since Kidel had stepped foot in this town. This was the town that she had such fond childhood memories of, and yet, this was the place where everything started to go downhill. If only Kidel could rewind the clock and go back to that fateful day – then maybe. . . None of her loss would have occurred.
But Kidel could not see herself as anything other than what she was now. If she could rewind time and go back, would she really? Her life would have taken such a different turn. Was that what she wanted? She didn’t know. The only thing she did know was that after all of her travels she had been led back to this place.
Kidel stood on a hill that overlooked the entire town. She was lucky that her childhood home was surrounded by woods or else she would have never survived the early days of her change. Below she could see the multicolored roofs of the houses, the cars at stoplights, and the little specs of pedestrians attempting to reach their destination.
“Mistress!” said a man from directly behind her. Kidel didn’t bother to turn her head; she knew who was there.
“What can I help you with?” she questioned one of the younger members of her group.
“It’s just. . . . I thought that after the hunt we were supposed to return to. ..”
Kidel cut him off with a snarl that came from deep in her stomach; her pink hair stood on end, and her eyes glowed with a malevolent energy. “Have you forgotten who I am!?” she demanded of the pup. “I make up the rules.”
The boy, who could not have been older than twelve, backed into a tree trunk. He looked horrified, and the fear was not just for his own life – he had seen what Kidel could do when she got mad. “Y-Y-Yes ma’am,” he managed to stutter out before he could think of anything else to say.
“Good.” Kidel turned ever so slightly so the boy could see her lean profile. “Now, if you would, return to the rest. I wish to stay here for a while. Do some sightseeing. . . .” And with that Kidel began her descent into town. This was an adventure which was long overdue.

Since Kidel had last prowled these streets a lot had changed. First off, she remembered everything being slightly more. . . well, just more. Maybe it was because when she left she was only a child, but coming back as an adult made this small town indeed look small.
Most things were where she remembered them; the supermarket, the bakery, the schools, and the arcade of her childhood. A few new additions had been made to the town. Now, it seemed, that the town had its own bus route. Before children were required to learn how to ride a bike at a young age if they wanted to go anywhere. There were other noticeable changes as well. Many of the local shops she remembered from her childhood were either closed down or had expanded in space to match competitors.
But, all in all, Kidel found comfort in the atmosphere of her childhood home. Especially when she sat down in her old haunt, Chocolat Bakery, to have a muffin and some tea.

Perspective could be a very funny thing, as a child his small home town didn't seem that small to him, but now as an adult he could see just how small the town. Rosewood Hallow is what many would consider to be a backwater place. It wasn't a sprawling metropolis, but there was a time where the city attracted many wild life researchers and hunters and campers, due to the fact that the town was so close to the forest nearby. But in the early 2000s, a series of strange murders and disappearances began to occur at the nearby camping grounds, though the victims and those responsible were never found, it didn't take long before all tourism practically stopped at this quiet small town.

People were too afraid to come here, but recently, the Mayor of the city reassured everyone that it was still safe to come here, he even had plans on constructing a Mega mall right here in the city. But these issues were of little concern to Taro. his parents had long sense passed on from this world, and he soon found himself fending for himself. Most children his age have already moved to the big city, yet Taro remained...

He remembered as a child...he an important friend .As children, they were the best of friends, totally insuperable. On her 16th birthday, he gave this friend an amulet he found at a jewellery store going out of business. It was the perfect present, but a few days later she vanishes without a trace. Now, Taro knew her well...he knew she wouldn't vanish like that without telling him. He had to find out why she disappeared, but to this day she remained missing. Taro alarm clock began to ring, causing a very gorggy Taro to wake up. He lets out a groan feeling for the blasted thing. Letting out a deep yawn, he begins his morning routine. Coming back from his morning jog, he notices a woman by the house where his old friend use to live. Now a-days, it was abandoned and falling apart. The kids in the neighbourhood thought it was haunted, he always saw them hanging around here, daring one another to step inside.

He knew everyone who lived in this city, but the woman that looked at the house didn't seem familiar to him. It wasn't till he saw the pendant around her neck that he recognized her. Taro lets out a gasp as he stops in his tracks, trying to catch his breath. "K....Kidel...is that...is that you?!" He ssks
“Lovely.” Kidel said to herself as she began to smell that scent of someone familiar. “I was hoping to run into him.”
“Excuse me, miss?” asked the boy behind the counter as he took her money from her for her food and drink. Kidel had loved this bakery as a child, but now she was that its appeal was waning. The wallpaper was starting the chafe, the windows had fingerprints all over them, and the tables were worn from use. Maybe age was its charm now? Whatever the case, the inhabitants of this town still seemed to love it. All the chairs had butts in them and the chief and his assistants were shouting to each other in a room that the eyes could not spy.
“I’m not talking to you.” She said, giving the boy a reproachable look. “Can I have my receipt?”
The teenage boy, who had brown hair and black eyes, was probably very popular in this town, but Kidel could see right through his schoolboy charm. He had a glaze over his eyes, and his skill with the register left much to be desired. For him, this job was probably just a nuisance – something to give him extra pocket change for school, or beer, or porn – whatever it was that boys his age did now. Kidel didn’t know; she had been out of touch with civilization for far too long.
The boy, obviously taken off guard handed Kidel her receipt. She impatiently ripped it out of his hand before she set off down the street to investigate the scent she had just picked up.
The smell led her through a familiar neighborhood. Her eyes scanned the buildings from her memories as her feet kept moving forward. Eventually she came to a halt in front of a plot of land that was supposed to be where her old house was. Her parents must have moved away. . . She figured that after her transformation they wanted to escape her somehow. Although, nothing could have prepared her for the sight of her house; once a beautiful town house, now charred and falling to bits. It stung her heart . . . if she had one.
Usually, under normal circumstances Kidel can sense a life form from at least a mile away, but when she heard her name called from behind her Kidel jumped. She turned her head at the speed of light to see who had taken her off her guard.
“Oh. Hey.”
A wave of powerful emotions flooded through as his eyes met with Kidel's. She hadn't aged one bit, she looked exactly the same as the day she disappeared. "Oh my god!" Taro shouts as he grabs her in a tight hug. He held onto a few moments before finally releasing her. "Kidel...what he hell happened to you?!" He asks, his hands now on her shoulders. He removed his head phones and backed off a little "Why did you leave like that...?" He asks
Kidel was immediately uncomfortable with when their flesh made contact. In the last ten years Kidel had made little contact with those outside of her group – and personally, she preferred it that way.
But, maybe it was because it was him? Maybe it was because she was sad after seeing her decrepit childhood home? Whatever it was, Kidel’s tense stance weakened slightly just as Taro was letting go. It was odd to see his face after all of this time. His features were pretty much the same, short black hair and black eyes – and, in her opinion, he still had those “too small for her head” ears. But she would never say that to his face.
“I had things to do.” She curtly replied. It was obvious that this was not the answer he was looking for, but it was the best she could do under the circumstances. Unconsciously, Kidel fingered the pendent around her neck; “Mum, and dad knew I had things to get done. That’s why they let me leave without all the fuss. Didn’t they tell you I was fine?”
She thought back to the horrified state she had left her parents in. . . . Yeah, maybe that hadn’t.
Taro frowned, his mood immediately changed he lets out a deep sigh. "Kidel...you remember as children? How you're parents always fought?" He asks. If it was one thing Taro remembered distinctively that her parents didn't exactly have the best of relationships. Kidel and Taro lived across the street from one another, and he could always hear them arguing, shouting at one another. "When you left, things got a lot worse. The arguing got more intense...and I remember hearing gunshots one night, and the next morning your mom left down....your dad left a few weeks later. Kidel, when things got worse between your parents, they cut all ties with us. They didn't tell me what happened to you...no one knew what happened, we all assumed you ran away because of the fighting" He says
“Oh, well I guess you could say I was what caused their problems,” muttered Kidel to herself, “But whatever, that’s the past.”
Kidel didn’t really like to think about the days leading up to her disappearance. It had been a hard time for her. And truthfully, she had been looking forward to this reunion with Taro but his constant whining was beginning to get under her skin – Kidel had a short fuse.
“I’m going to be staying in town for a few days,” Kidel began with a mournful glace back to her old house, “So we can catch up eventually. It looks like you were going somewhere so why don’t I just go? Huh? Need to find a place anyways. . . “
It was beginning to make her skin crawl – being in a place with so many people. She needed to enclose herself. She needed to get somewhere where she couldn’t smell the slight sweat from Taro’s flesh or hear the blood pumping through his veins. It was provoking.
Taro could hear Kidel mutter something he titled his head at her and shook his head "No, no!" Taro says, he reached out and touched her arm a moment giving her a stern glance. "Kidel, why don't you come live with me?" He asks "I'm living by myself these days, so there's plenty of room!" He says with a smile "C'mon, it'll be like those old sleep overs we use to have." He says
Kidel cocked her eyebrow in disbelief. “You do know. . . That we aren’t 10 anymore, right?” she questioned. “I mean, I am a full grown woman who you lost contact with years ago! For all you know I could be a serial killer. . . . which is kinda – well, anyways. . .”
Kidel paused. Wait, wasn’t this the whole reason I came here? To settle things? But I. . . ?
“Weren’t you going somewhere? Your heart seems to be beating – Uh, I mean, you look like you were in a hurry to get somewhere. You know, listening to music and walking the streets.”
Crap. Why was talking to humans so hard? Whatever. Her mind was scattered. She looked right and then looked left.
Kidel ducked out from Taro’s grip and walked backwards a few steps. It was hard smelling him. It was hard, period. Unconsciously Kidel fingered her pendent. She needed Taro. He was the only person who knew the origin of this necklace and the only one she could easily get some answers from.
Her mind was in mêlée. She knew that going to Taro’s was the worst thing she could possibly do. The boy had probably made it back to the pack already and was telling them of her confusing behavior. She had that to worry about, plus the fact that she would not really be able to stay at Taro’s considering what happened to her when the sun went down.
But. . . He was why she came. s**t.
“You can just direct me. I’ll find a way in.”
Something about Kidel didn't seem right. She seemed rather edgy, she was acting rather odd too. From his appearance, anyone could tell that he was jogging earlier. And his music was a little loud he shook it off however and nodd "I still live in the old house...do you remember where it is?" He asks before Kidel had a chance to answer, he pointed to the old house across the street "OVer there." He says. "I have some errands to run later, but I'll be back at around fourish? I'll see you then, Kidel" Placing his headphoens back into his ears, Taro waves towards her before continuing with his run.
