My two smoking friends are weening themselves off nicotine. They've stopped buying fags and now are using e-ciggs in declining amounts.

Even for the social or psyhological aspect, I don't see how people could torture their lungs that much.

I had a weird dream where I was going to cross the road on my bike, and my Mom was on the other side. I thought the light was green so I was going to cross, but it was red and I had to back track. Then a police officer came to my door and gave me a ticket... weird dream was weird.
