"Ha, you fell for my trap!"

Erros watched as Squirtle's Water Gun attack neared closer to the charging Geodude

Geodude let loose with the Grass-Type Hidden Power, and, far beyond what he had expected, a blast of Water Gun had gone flying at the attack/

"What? I didn't see the Water Gun? But, there was no command!"

The powerful blast of water from Squirtle ripped forth and smashed into the Hidden Power. The attacks struggled to gain ground for a while, and, finally, the Water Gun won through, carrying the Hidden Power ball with the shot. It flew forwards and smashed the Geodude with both attacks. Geodude was launched into the wall, and the Gym wall behind it exploded. In its place, there was an unconscious Geodude, and a pile of rubble, with a Water Gun sized hole.

"Geeeee-ohhhhhh...."

"Geodude! Ah, that was one of the most impressive attacks I've ever seen! If my math is right, that was about 24x Super Effective. I don't think there's a single pokemon that could have been standing after that blast. Geodude will need a long rest. Either way, its time for him to come back. Excellent fight, Erros! Geodude, return!"

A flash of red light, and the Geodude returned to its Poke Ball. Roark produced another one, and out of it came an even stronger Pokemon.

"Go, Onix!!"

"O-OOOOOOOOONNNIX!" Screeched the gigantic rock snake. It loomed over the battlefield, and made the tiny Squirtle seems so insignificant.

"And there's hit number two." Asieth said happily as the second strike impacted Seedot. It was clear to Asieth that Seedot was pretty hurt by the attack. Super Effective? Ah well. "Seedot, let's unleash that energy!"

A blast of white energy fired from Seedot's body, rocketing towards Scyther. "Haha! That should do it!"

"Okay we've dealt with these before!" Erros shouted with vigor. "Squirtle! Muddy Water!"

Squirtle nodded. He doubled over and looked as if he was going to be sick. Quickly he stood up and opened his mouth. Brown water jeted out of his mouth and shot towards Onix.

"Alright Onix, we have to use everything we've got on this one! Use your defences, and we'll hit it hard! Slide in along the Muddy Water, and use Screech!"

"OOOOOOOOOOO-NNN!!!!!"

A deafening screech was let loose into the Gym, lowering the defenses of everything that heard it by a significant amount. Following this, the Muddy Water swirled around Onix and smashed into him. Onix growled madly, as the blast of water visibly weakened him.

"Wow, that was a heavy blow! But, Onix has some energy left, and it's all he needs to fight back! Onix, it's still stunned from it's own attack, use Double-Edge!"

Onix flung his tail around the Squirtle from the side, as he was being pushed back by the Muddy Water. It was at least 8 feet of tail, so Roark hoped he would get a clean hit.

The Double Edge knocked Squirtle into the wall of the gym. Squirtle didnt look good at all.

" Squirtle, return." A flash of red light and Squirtle was back in his ball.

"Two left, okay, this is going to be tough without Squirtle" He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt. "Go Aerodactyl! Ice Fang!"

"AEROOO"

Aerodactyl opened his mouth, teeth glittering like ice. Flying straight for Onix

Onix was successful in his Double-Edge attack, and Squirtle appeared to be out of the battle. Onix did not take any of the recoil damage from the Double-Edge attack, due to his Rock Head ability, but it did force him to take the time to pull his tail from the rock he had ended up planting it in. As he did this, Aerodactyl came from its Poke Ball and immediately charged forwards with a high speed Ice Fang.

"Onix, look out, try to dodge it!"

But, it was a little too late. The Ice Fang connected just in time for the Stealth Rocks to hit Aerodactly for some damage. Onix shouted and fell to the floor, unconscious.

"No, Onix! Ah, well played Erros! I certainly wasn't expecting an Aerodactly! This should be fun. Now that my other Pokemon are beaten, it's time for my trump card to make his appearance."

"Roark reached for his belt, and out of it, he pulled a single Poke Ball. He rose it into the air, and tossed it forward with great strength.

"Come on out, Cranidos!"

The little grey and blue dinosaur emerged in white light, and began shaking his head quickly. He looked up and shouted...

"CRAY-NI-DOS!!!!!!!"

"This is the end, Erros. Cranidos, use Zen Headbutt! Full speed charge!"

Cranidos dove forward and hit the center of the Gym, then, with his legs, he pushed upwards and dove headfirst towards Aerodactyl, with the blue top of his head glowing with Psychic energy.

Scyther hissed arrogantly. Another attack from this feeble grass pokemon? He wondered why he decided to fight it. He raised his bladed arms to block the blow again. The energy lanced toward him, striking the blades...

"Scy!"

Pain. Blackout.

Erros

Roark had a strange Pokemon out that Erros had never seen before. It's Zen Headbutt attack knocked Aerodactyl back and looked like it did a bit of damage. Erros quickly took out his Pokedex and looked up the Pokemon.

"Cranidos! It lived in jungles 100 million years ago. It's skull is hard as iron!"

"Well, it must be a physical attacker then. Aerodactyl, keep your distance and use Dragonbreath!

Aerodactyl took a deep breath and blew. A superheated blast of air shot at Cranidos.

"Yes! Ha ha!" Asieth quickly snatched a Pokeball off of his belt and hurled it at the Scyther now lying on the ground. The ball wriggled around violently until finally the button on the center of the ball turned back to white. "Yay!" He dashed over and grabbed the Pokeball, holding it over his head and hopping up and down excitedly. He fixed the ball to his belt and next ran over to his Seedot and giving it a large hug. "Good job there, Seedot."

"Seed!" It shouted happily. Asieth then returned his Seedot and put it back on his belt. He then walked over to his Poliwag, that had been watching the match. "Looks like we've got a new buddy now, Poliwag!

"Dragonbreath? Interesting, I wouldn't have expected that. Just as you didn't expect my Cranidos to be capable of long-range battling. Cranidos, block that Dragonbreath with your own Flamethrower!"

Instantly, Cranidos began growling as the flames in its mouth grew hotter. It inhaled deeply, and then fired.

"CRAN-NI!"

The Flamethrower blasted forward, connecting with the Dragonbreath and stopping it in its place. Now, all he needed was for the attack to either blow up there and not hit, or better yet, get pushed back to Aerodactyl...

Erros

Erros watched in amazement as the two forms of energy collided and fought for dominance. He suddenly remembered a fundamental advantage that Aerodactyl had in battle.

"Aerodactyl, use your pressure to weaken the Flamethrower and then use Wing Attack!"

Aerodactyl understood. His presence seemed to press upon everything in the room. Erros even felt as if he was being supressed somehow. Aerodactyl then did something Erros did not expect. He ceased his Dragonbreath and then flew directly through the weakened Flamethrower at Cranidos, wings poised and ready for a hit.

The blast of DragonBreath was dissipated as the room filled with a pressurized atmosphere. Roark looked on, stunned and almost clueless about what would happen next. Finally, he saw a frightening sight. The Aerodactyl tore through the Flamethrower, obviously taking damage, but not much at all. It was almost like it didn't really feel it at all.

"Cranidos, look out for the Wing Attack!"

But, it was too late to dodge. The Wing Attack would normally be not very effective, but this hit low to Cranidos' legs, causing him to propel into the air. He doubled over in midair, and began to spin.

"Ahhhhhh, Cranidos, no!"

Erros was amazed at the strength of the Wing Attack that Aerodactyl had used. Cranidos was flying through the air. He took the chance to finish it off.

"Aerodactyl, use Rock Smash!

"AEROOO"

Aerodactyl shot forward like a bullet and headbutted Cranidos.

There was absolutely no avoiding it. A Rock Smash against a Rock Type, used by a Pokemon as powerful as Aerodactyl? There was no stopping it. It hit dead on, and you could hear the collision as Aerodactyl blasted into the hard head of Cranidos. The little dinosaur Pokemon was launched into the ceiling, and collided into it with a sickening thud. He stayed there for a second, and then descended to the ground, where he hit the floor for one final thud.

"Cranidos! Poor guy..."

"Cranidos is unable to battle!! This Gym Battle goes to Erros, of Vermillion City!"

Roark pulled out his Pokeball and recalled Cranidos, then stepped across the battlefield, ending right about at where Erros was located.

"You put up a fine fight, kid. As proof of your victory here, this is the Coal Badge."

He reached into his pocket and removed from it a detailed and delicate metal badge. It was brown and silver, and appeared to be shaped like a miners hat.

"The Oreburgh City Coal Badge denotes upon you many things. One of which is the ability to use Rock Smash outside of combat, to break rocks, and also, the next is official entry into the Sinnoh League. One badge makes you an official participant. Also, you may have this."

He reaches once again into his pocket, and he pulls out a CD of some sorts.

"This is TM76. It gives you the ability to teach any one of your Pokemon Stealth Rock at any time. Use it wisely. Also, may I add that the battle style you had was reminiscent of a trainer with experience. I was certain that this was not your first Gym Battle. The way that you recalled Heracross after it took that hit, and choreographed the movements of your Pokemon so that they would use effective attacks right as they came out of the ball, made me certain that you've been battling for a while now. You have some real promise, Erros. Good luck to you."
