Q & A:
question Why is the mask on the cover on the wrong side of his face?
arrow According to a link provided by Oboegeek... "According to Raphael: The reason the Phantom's mask was flipped (and this is pure speculation as a
graphic designer) is that it fits the composition. Had the composition been maintained and the mask returned to its original side, it would not be visible due to the lighting scheme of the poster and therefore do away with the signature look of the character for the lay public to recognize at a glance. Had the image itself been flipped, it would have faced the text and made the poster appear cramped. Switch the text to the right side of the composition and the copy would be less likely to be read (since in this society we read from left to right). Thanks to raphael for the explanation !"

question In the movie/musical, the notes are signed "OG".What does that mean?
arrow It means Opera Ghost. When Andrew Lloyed Webber was writing the musical, he only had one version of the translation (see link above). In that translation, the translator refers to the Erik as "The Opera Ghost" instead of the more literal "Phantom of the Opera".

question Why is this thread "official"?
arrow Mainly because it is the longest and oldest thread. Plus, I say it's official. ^_- If you find a longer, older Phantom thread or if you feel that an official thread needs mod approval or something, feel free to bring that to my attention. It just is, okay? ^_^

Ask if you have any more questions. smile

Unromantic_Phantom
Phantom of the Opera 10 Commandments For Writing Phanfiction
1. Thou shalt not always refer to the phantom as "The Phantom", but shall instead use his Leroux given name, Erik.
2. Thou shalt not misspell the phantom's name or thou shall incur the wrath of angry phangirls screaming, "It's Erik with a K!"
3. Thou shalt not have the phantom involved in any romantic relationships with Raoul, the Persian, or any other male characters. Keep those fantasies to yourself.
4. Thou shalt not make the phantom a wuss.
5. Thou shalt not make the phantom immortal, or make it so that he is suddenly and inexplicably thrown into the future. Those with a reasonable explanation are allowed.
6. Thou shalt not insert thyself into the story for any reason unless it's at the Author's note at the beginning or end of the story.
7. Thou shalt not make the phantom fall in love with a woman other than Christine, but if thou insists on doing so thou should have the relationship develop slowly. Remember that our phantom would probably be very reluctant to fall in love again, and that's a best case scenario.
8. Thou shalt not make the phantom have romantic relationships with or feelings towards Christine and Raoul's children.
9. Thou shalt remember that the phantom is to look like a living corpse and not have characters simply overlook his deformity.
10. Thou shalt have a damn plot!

Oh my fecking god! People! Okay, so yes, it is an sxcellent movie and you're very, very excited to have seen it. Awesome. That's just fantastic. Why do you make so many fecking threads about it?? It's been out for a month now! There have been twenty-bajillion threads for the past month, that last about 2 pages and die. Why? Because someone else comes along and makes a new one! It's ridiculous!!

I've seen it. I liked it a lot. I thought that Raul was a bit of a jerk. I'm not sure how to explain that. I also thought that Christine was too indescisive/passive with everything going on around her. Also, the Phantom was a bit too obsessive/possessive of Christine, yet I feel sorrier for him than the others.
I saw the movie twice and now I'm hooked xd And the music was just amazing even my friend loved blaugh
