We're about as greedy as Gaia is at this point and everyone needs to take 5 seconds to give some GOOD feedback!
I have absolutely had it with some of the feedback I have recently seen. Are we just going to find something wrong with anything Gaia does now? An attitude of "Anything good they do erases anything bad they do." is not a good way to handle this! There is a war going on and we're fighting both sides. There's been a lot of very cool new things going on that we have been ignoring completely because we're too obsessed with putting down all the crap that's been going on. DC got its first update in a loooong time, the first ever gold shop CI was released, and now there's an absolutely fantastic gold sink. And instead of giving feedback on the good things and being thankful for at least having them, we're too busy being pissed off about Flynn's Booty being released for - how many times is it now? I've lost count. We need to accept the fact that even though there is a huge number of pissed off users giving feedback against Flynn's Booty, there's an even larger number who are still purchasing them as well as other new CV and CS items. As long as people do this, which they will, there will be no change. However, whilst fighting against things we don't want has become futile, we can still fight for things we do want. Gold shop updates, more recolors, gold sinks, avatar glitch fixes, more games, more manga, new achievements, a new IM feature, events, new Prize & Joy items, new Treehouse items, a new inventory arranger!
My point with all this is that positive feedback is more likely to be heard than negative feedback. And if you really want your negative feedback to be heard, well, actions speak louder than words. Don't like new features? Don't use them. Don't like new ads? adblockplus.org Don't like the new re-colors? Don't buy them. Just whatever you do, don't think your negative feedback has any comparison to the number of people buying, supporting, and using new features and items. Think of it like this: Gaia is a child. This child is doing good things, and bad things. If you yell at it for doing bad things, it will throw a tantrum (you don't like my Booty? Have some more of it! ;_; ). If you encourage it for doing good things, it will do them more and more until the bad things are abandoned.
Obviously, it's going to be hard to encourage Gaia to abandon shoving cash items down our throats because the payout has got to be fantastic. But does that mean we cannot encourage where new cash items are going or what they are? Phin Phang could surely use an update and we can always use more car and house items. Also, did you know that GS items can be bought with cash? Perhaps if we spend extra cash and leftover small amounts in the GS they might actually pay a little more attention to it.
Back on to the bit about being greedy, I think we all need to take a time out and remember that this is not our website. We're allowed to be on here for free. We're allowed to post millions of times for free. We can use many many features for free. Perhaps it was just how I was raised, but I was taught that we should be thankful for everything we have, and not to complain about the things we don't have or the things we don't want. Because that's exactly what everyone has been doing, by this point we're as greedy as Gaia. I think we should really appreciate the fact that we can still play for free, that many of the games and features are still fun and free, and that many staff members still care. This is still a community, and on top of that I don't remember a time before that it's been so lively around here!
So, I would like to say thank you to my very favorite website.
Thank you for the many years that you have been here. Thank you for the community-oriented feeling that I had when I first joined. I can still feel it sometimes. Thank you for the hundreds of people I have met on here and loved and cared for. Some of the people I met here 5 or 6 years ago have become my closest friends that I could not even imagine life without. And thank you for the many hours of boredom you filled with fun, way back when I thought Gaia Pinball was the greatest thing in the world. Hitting rock puppy was the a great way to cheer up on a bad day. Thank you for keeping towns around for so long after creating towns 2, I still like collecting junk when there's not much else to do. Oh, and on that subject, thanks for towns 2. I'm sure I'm not the only one to say that it isn't what we expected, but thank you for trying to give us something new. Thanks for fishing as well, it's really outdated but you keep it here anyways because a lot of people enjoy it. And thank you for zOMG; you apparently can't update it anymore, but you keep it on the site and continue to let us play it anyways. I still spend a lot of time chasing after fluffs for fun, or playing hide and seek games with my friends. It's like Towns on steroids. Thank you for releasing new achievements for every event, even if some of them can be difficult to get. Thank you for still keeping up with monthly collectibles, that's got to be getting old by now, but you still do it anyways. And of course, thank you Gaia artists, you guys work your asses off so much so that there's too big of a list of things I could thank you for. There's just so much I still love about Gaia. Things may be a little chaotic right now, some issues I care not to even mention, but this is still Gaia. Though the staff have changed, as have the users, many parts of this website have remained the same for many years. So for all that, I am thankful to still be here on the site that I know and love.
TL;DR:
I'd love it if you went ahead and just read it, but if not just forget it and skip to the text below.
I would like for you, yes you reading this, to take a break from the recent negative feedback to post something about Gaia that you really enjoy.
Also, take a second to say thank you to a member of Gaia Staff who you find to be extraordinary. They do work very hard you know.
