I'm studying for my Stoichiometry test tomorrow and I'm stuck on these questions:

How many molecules of ammonium phosphate, (NH4)3 PO4 are in a 0.170-g sample?

How many atoms of bromine are in 2.12g of bromine molecules?


If someone could explain to me how to do this I would be forever grateful

If one mole of ammonium phosphate weights 'x', then how many moles would you need to have 0.170 grams?

To get the weight of ammonium phosphate, list the molar masses of hydrogen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and oxygen. After making the list, multiply each of the molar masses by the number of times they appear in the molecule, and then add them together.

For bromine it is easier because you want to know the number of atoms of bromine in 2.12 grams. Find the molar mass of bromine and see how many moles will weight 2.12 grams.

Calculate the number of moles of Ammonium Phosphate in 0.17 grams: n = m/M = 0.17/149.09
Now multiply the result by the Avogadro constant to get number of Ammonium Phosphate molecules.

Same thing for Bromine
