.forum_userstatus .statuslinks span.offline {
background: url(http://s.cdn.gaiaonline.com/images/common/emotion_smilies/icon_0A0.png) left no-repeat;}

Just change the URL in parenthesis to something else and you're good to go, although I suggest using something small because something larger than an emote wouldn't show up entirely.
