that was given to me
inside a crusty worn box

wrapped in a ribbon
all yellow

---so unprepared
to catch this fish wrap
lines drawn in

closing clocks
melting mouths
---a minty acid rinse

now the chess set lye
forgotten; defective
---of love?

swam a long time
where the willow stood

why do I come here?

the lead sky
naked; frozen

pick, tare, pick, tare
with forks and knives

let me live in memory

falling from snow
appearing on the stand
---so long my friend
