Am I safe here?

can I be free?

I've been hearing
a whisper in the back of my mind
one that tugs at my consciousness

At the corner of my vision
I see something dancing
always black
always gone when I look

Is my mind still mine?
Do I still have control?

I don't feel whole anymore
I feel like I split
I see my hands moving
but am I controlling them?

Simple pleasures
no longer offer
the safety blanket
they once had

In his arms
I feel like I am floating
staring down at our intertwined bodies
watching happiness my mind can't find

Has my twine snapped?
Am I no longer connected?

I've been disconnected
rejected; recalled; repossessed

have I been repo'd
or is there something more sinister?

What happened to my dream?
I am no longer swimming in sanity
I'm caught in the clutches of insanity

It's tentacles are wrapping around me
pulling me back down to that awful place
where pills ruled my life
leaving me emotionless

What is happening to me?
My genes are malformed
a homecoming is waiting in that white room

please leave me for just tonight
so I can feel safe one last time
before my mind completely breaks
