Carlisle Jon Fitzgerald, a long time resident of Equestria stood by his close friends and rulers of Equestria Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. They were trying to plan a counter strike on the recent attacks by the the Queen of Changelings, Queen Chrysalis. It seemed she hadn't learned that the princess's empire would not be brought down so easily. Her assault on Canterlot a while ago had drained her and her changelings near starvation, it's quite shocking and surprising how they can still muster up these organized attacks and manage to hold their ground.

Carlisle had been brought here to Equestria by Celestia a long while back when he was a boy, she had rescued him from a pack of wolves. Before then he was thrown out at the age of five and dropped off in the middle of the woods. He had no idea what to do or how to survive but he managed to do so for about a year before his Grave encounter. Once he was brought to his new home with Celestia he had his memories erased and convinced he was born in Equestria. He has been raised on the teachings of the princesses and the way of her people.

Carlisle looked down at the princess, she may have been the tallest pony he knew but he had the height advantage, her horn reaching up to his nose. She was talking to the guards on the recent attacks and how they could react. Of course Carlisle paid little to no attention to her until she named him out and returned the recent look. "Well?" She said with a smile "Oh...Of course you're Highness" he said with that 'wait what?' Tone in his voice and a slight nod. She just rolled her eyes and dismissed her guards.

Celestia had always taught him to call her by her name but refer to her royally around guests and well...everyone accept Luna and herself. "So did you pick up anything from that Carlisle?" She said as she turned and walked down the room. "I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say it was about the recent attacks on some of the small residents by the changelings?" He said as he followed beside her. "Nice Save" she giggled. Carlisle smiled in pure victory BOOM YOU'RE THE MAN! He said mentally to himself before getting cut off by Sun Butt's next sentence "I want you to go help the soldiers against the Changelings today" Carlisle wanted to cross his arms a complain but he was turning 18 soon and needed to show he was maturing so he sighed quietly and replied "Will do, I'll go prepare" afterwards he walked towards his living chambers. Right before he entered he turned and stuck his tongue out at the Princess. "I saw that" she said "No you didn't" Carlisle replied with a smile as he shut the door and began to put his armor on.

After a while he was in a chariot about to land in a small resident with his comrades to prepare for the attack. He was the main unit in this small deployment, his strength made him valuable. It seems in Equestria that he had super-human strength since he was from a different world but he wasn't invincible so he couldn't be reckless. After they landed he got out and helped unpack supplies.

((OOC: Sun butt! cat_blaugh cat_rofl and no worries, I'm pretty excited too!))

Queen Chrysalis's hooves clattered on the stone floor of her palace throne chamber as she paced, awaiting news of her people's most recent bid to gain a foothold over Equestria. Ever since they're last failure to get at all the sweet, sweet love flowing through everypony, her kingdom was struggling more than ever. The people were starving and desperate. They're energy was so low, many could barely move. She was pushing her army harder and harder to gain control of the smaller towns at the edges of Equestria, where she had hoped defenses would be low, but so far nothing had come from it. Only barely enough to get by and try another day. The Changlings were going to die if something didn't change soon. They needed either a success here or a move to somewhere else where they could get love and energy more freely. But it might be too late. If they didn't have the energy to haul themselves away...

That troubling thought was interrupted by the sharp, insectoid sound of a pair of buzzing wings. A page was flying through the entrance, hopefully bearing good news from the front.

"Your highness!" panted the messenger, dropping exhaustedly to the ground in a bow.

"Get up now! There is no time for these formalities! What news is there?" she hissed at him.

Catching his breath, the page replied, "There is trouble on the front. Celestia has sent out a troop to counteract our movements."

Chrysalis bared her fangs, turning from the guard to resume pacing. She tossed her head up, flinging her thin main back. "Is there any chance we can push back and gain anything from this? Can we keep them off long enough to cast a spell on a few ponies and bring them back?"

"Negative, your highness. The princess has sent out an..extra special offense with her team this time. I do not think--"

"Oh who cares what you think!" she spat, turning and rearing in his face. The guard backed down and bowed his head, ears lying flat to his skull. "What sort of offense is this? There must be some way to defend against it."

"It is..a human, your Grace. All is lost if we fight against him, but if we pull back now we may salvage our resour--"

"No." Queen Chrysalis stopped in her tracks at the mention of the human. She didn't know much about them, but she knew they could be a formidable opposition. "Pulling back is not an option now. We cannot fight the human, but maybe we can take him out some other way?" Whispering now, as if she had forgotten the presence of the guard, "I think there is a way. A spell perhaps?" Her ears perked forward and she raised one holly hoof off of the ground. "Page. Take these instructions back to the commander. He is to send out his strongest soldier in the guise of an earth pony to the human when he is alone with the directions to act scared and helpless. The soldier is to lead the human deep into the forest where he will cast a spell on him. Anything, as long as he s knocked out. They should capture him and bring him back to me. Understood?" She glanced back at the changeling over her shoulder.

"Straight away, Your Highness!" He clapped to attention then turned and galloped out of the throne room. Queen Chrysalis marched slowly after him, turning left at the door to make preparations for their eminent guest.

Carlisle took up an offering of bread from one of the residents, the mare was smiling happily up at him as her son seemed to pout. He must have been hungry and wanted the bread his mother had just given to a complete stranger. Carlisle almost took a bite out of the cut but stopped and tore the gift in half, the mother mare seemed confused why he did so until he reached down and handed the other half to her son who in surprise smiled and reluctantly grabbed the bread and began to eat. Carlisle grinned in joy and saluted to the mother, she hugged his leg and seemed to tear up in her eyes. After his small interaction he walked away back to his post eating small portions of the bread.

After about an hour he was sitting on a rock just outside the resident town. No one else was with him, the other soldiers had been set to help prepare and secure the innocent before the strike. He played with a small stone that he chipped at with the spear he was given. Sparks occasionally lit up the shadow he had cast over it in his time of creation.

In a quick moment he took the spear and pointed it towards the forest that lay as still as an amongst the presence of a spider that had only but one option if it were to live. The rustling of small bushes and tall grasses seemed to get closer, he was ready for anything from a small kitten to a fully grown manticore. But before the unveiling of the source the rustling stopped and unsettling silence sheathed itself over the area. He was beginning to feel very uncomfortable and stood up, the fear began to heat his stomach. What is happening?

Carlisle gulped down his heart and calmed after a bit. But was surprised and nearly scared to death by an earth pony that jumped from the bushes. The strange mare with a light brown coat of fur and a black mane stared at him intently as if he as if she had been making sure it was really him. He looked at her after recovery and asked "Who are you?" He said regaining his composure and wiped the dirt off his armor.

She stayed quiet for a minute or so but then responded with an irrelevant answer "Come check this out" she said as she walked back into the brush and he soon followed. Minutes passed as they drilled through the dense foliage. "What are we going to see?" Carlisle asked still confused. "Oh you'll see" she said before disappearing behind a tree. Where'd she go? He looked around and began to regret this decision" Um...hello?" He said nervously. He then began to feel a static pulsing feeling through his body and he fell to his knees unable to move. Was this magic? He then noticed something in his peripherals, a mass of black...A changeling. He had played his cards wrong and would surely pay the price. The changeling then hit him with it's hoof and knocked him out.

He began to dream about a forest, a different forest a more for a lack of better words realistic forest. He looked around blankly and heard growling and the sound of twigs snapping. He saw a pair of yellow eyes and the glistening of whit fangs. But before he could react the dream ended and a different one took place him being raised by Celestia, he had always looked at her as a mother. This had to have been the work of Luna, this wasn't the first time he had these seemingly meaningless dreams but maybe they did mean something.

The next thing Carlisle awoke to was a stone cell that contained nothing but complete darkness and the chains that held him from exploring it. "HELP! IS ANYONE OUT THERE?! WHERE AM I?!" He yelled out in hopes of a response. How could he let this happen, the trust bestowed upon him meant nothing now, without him the deployment would soon fail to keep the enemy away. He sighed and apologized to himself and to his Princesses "I'm sorry..." he said in a whisper before blacking out again.

The mixed sounds a hooves galloping and insect wings buzzing rang down the halls of the Changeling Palace. Two pages were fighting as they hurried down to the throne room, each striving to be the first to deliver their message to the Queen.

"Move!"
"No, you move! My news is more important!" The running page heaved himself to the left, trying to bump the flying one. The flying page, a messenger from the army spies, flittered higher, barely dodging the others attack and watched him slam into a wall.

"Ha!" the flyer shouted over his shoulder. "Queen! Your Highness, I have word from the gener-Oomf!" The doors to the throne room slammed open with a bolt of green magic, squashing him against the wall with a crunch. He twitched there and slid to the floor as the spy messenger pranced in to see the Queen triumphantly. His happy mood deflated under her gaze however.

"Speak," she commanded, seated regally on her black throne.

Dropping into a bow, he delivered his message: "The human has been successfully captured, my Queen. Without him, the opposing army is falling to our siege. In a matter of days, we will have this town at our mercy and may continue the conquest of Equestria. Food will be plentiful."

"Good. You may rise and return to the front." The page stood and turned to exit the room, passing as he did so the now rather crumpled General's messenger. The new page limped to the Queen, and shakily fell into a bow.

"What news do you bring me?"

"My Queen, The human has been captured--"

"Oh really? I hadn't heard," she responded with a dousing of sarcasm.

Trying to ignore her tone, the page continued, "--and he is being brought to the dungeons. We await your further interaction."

Chrysalis stood slowly. Her hooves shook and she nearly couldn't remain upright; the lack of energy was affecting her strongly. She couldn't afford to show any weakness to her subjects however, and sheer force of will allowed her to muster composure. In truth, she had yet to decide how to deal with the human. Killing him would deal the ultimate damage to Celestia and Luna, leaving the Changelings an easier path to success. Their defenses would be permanently damaged, but would it be enough to ensure her amy's victory? And more importantly, could it be done? She wasn't sure she couldn't do it alone, and she was too proud to ask any of her subjects to help, not that any would volunteer anyway. Could he be turned against the ponies, be used as a reformed weapon? Or if not reformed, tricked?

"Leave him locked in the dungeons, I will deal with him. But wait! Take me to him now, I wish to see him." She followed the messenger on hoof to spot where the guards had deposited his cage in the courtyard. Inside, the human was knocked out still. He had a large red mark on his forehead where he had been hit.

"You may return to the front," she dismissed the messenger. He turned and fluttered weakly, unevenly out the gate to the courtyard and disappeared into the trees. Left alone with the human, Queen Chrysalis studied his features. He kicked a bit in his sleep, and Chrysalis judged that he must be dreaming. Curious, she used a bit of magic to peek into his dreams. Her horn, her eyes and his head glowed green as she navigated his subconscious. She alighted on the nightmare scene. All she could discern were shadows through a mist but she could feel his fear. She was still trying to clear the pictures when the dream suddenly changed it's tone, becoming light and warm. Shining brightly through the haze, chasing away the fog, came the image of Celestia, clear as day. Chrysalis withdrew from his mind with a jolt, but the love he felt for the princess still electrified the air. Her body absorbed the energy, sucked at it like a dying plant in a rain shower, and still it pulsed, not diminished in the least by her need. She felt recharged in a way she hadn't been in a long time.

She kicked up her heels and pranced around the cage, struck with a new plan for her captive. She used her new found strength to magically lift his prison smoothly and escorted it herself to the dungeons, where she chained him and locked the bars. Setting his key on a hook with her horn, she shot him one last glance. She smiled, baring her fangs and turn to leave him in the dark. She'd leave him to himself for a few days, until the town was overtaken by her troops, and she'd command a few servants to bring him food and water in the meantime.

Carlisle woke up once more, it seemed he slept until the next day. His wrists ached and he noticed a strange garment around his neck, he'd seen these kind of things before. Anti-magic rings to suppress magic from being used on the wearer. He couldn't take this he began to pull against the chains. Clenching his fists and grinding his teeth as his muscles tensed and the chains beginning to jingle. In a final burst of energy he yanked the chains forward and fell as the rubble from the stone wall crumbled to the ground. He was exhausted as is but this brought him to the brink.

Crawling slowly to the barred door and propping himself up to his knees, resting his head against the cold iron bars that seemed to give him the only energy to sustain him. He tried to yell for help but choked on his words and only mouthed them.

He needed to get out and get back to his family... His friends his...mother...He began to tear up and get angry. His heart began to ache and he began to feel the adrenaline pumping through him. He stood up and clenched his teeth, he stood back and raised his leg. I'm getting out of her NOW! He thought before kicking down the iron door and running down the hallway.

He was getting lost...dead end after dead end, it was as if he ran in circles. He was getting frustrated and felt it build up inside but soon discharged negatively into his chest and turned into pure sadness and sorrow. "No...no...I CAN'T TAKE THIS I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" He pounder the stone wall and felt the stone cracked and chip at each hit.

"CHRYSALIS THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT SCUM AND A FIEND!" He yelled at the top of his lungs before falling to his knees once again and just staring into nothing. Silence draped itself over him , seconds turned into minutes. He felt dead...was he? He'd be better off that way.

He needed to find this queen and make her let him go and take this garment off. He also wanted to meet this evil empress he'd only heard of her. Still... He just stared into the emptiness and breathed heavily. The thick moist air filing his lungs. How would he achieve this goal? He is lost and lonely. .. Would Chrysalis even bother?

Chrysalis awoke in her bedchamber, feeling well rested and actually pleased to see the new day for once. Things were finally going her way. The tides had turned nicely on the battle field; her changeling army was infiltrating the ponies' hideaway, feeding on the love between spouses and parents and children. They were preparing the way for the rest of her subjects to pour in and feast before moving on to the next town. It was glorious.

She tossed off her bed sheets and clopped over to the vanity table. Brushing her mane, she began to organize her day plan. Firstly, i must go see that the prisoner is being taken care of. What can I do with him now? she mused. She still wasn't quite sure what he could be used for. He might make a good energy source, for her and a few elites.

She gave her reflection one last admiring glance, then walked out of her room and made her way to the dungeon. When she made her way down the hall to his cell, her heart fell. The destruction was tremendous. She couldn't believe he had managed to do that all on his own. As a matter of fact, she didn't believe it. He must have had help of some sort. Immediately, her despair turned to rage. Her ears lay flat against her head as she pivoted and galloped back through the dungeons to the exit, screaming for her guards.

"All of you, search the grounds! Tear the castle inside out, search the whole kingdom if you must! Sound the alarms. Let no pony rest until you find him and bring him back to me." Rising on her gossamer wings, she tore off to search the basement herself, twisting and turning through the corridors. After an hour of searching, she heard a foreign cry bouncing through the air and quickly made her way to the source.

There, kneeling on the ground, was her escaped prisoner. She dropped to the floor and slowly approached him at a walk, neck arched proudly. "Where did you think you were going?" She bared her fangs and her porous horn sparked. "Where's your accomplice? Who tried to save you?"

Friendly Lunatic

Carlisle stopped his sobbing as he heard a female voice speak to him, an echo-like tone even if they weren't in a dungeon. This must be the changeling queen...He began to feel his rage pulse through his veins as his anger burned inside like an active volcano. In a burst of energy he jumped to his feet and turned around swiftly in and prepared for a strike with his clenched fist. His eyes wide and tears still streaming down his face.

He was ready to utterly destroy this adversary in a single hit, the rage inside him pushed him to near insanity and lust for blood. But...In those tiny moments of looking at this creature he assumed was the queen he had never seen such a beautiful being, even in her odd shape and form. As time seemed to snap back to reality he diverted the strike to the wall to his left or to her right. Missing her face by a few inches and then with tremendous force impacting the stone wall, his arm drilled the hard minerals until it came to a halt.

His arm stay cratered in the wall as he breathed heavily and slowly began to ease. His elbow barely noticeable from the impact, his arm was buried in the structure. He felt the warmth of blood rush down his arm through several cuts formed by fragments of stone that impaled him during the strike. He cared little about his arm and just stood there breathing as his long brown hair draped his eyes.

He felt stunned as he could feel the Queen's eyes staring in emotions and thoughts he dare not think of. What made him deflect his own attack? She was without a doubt the enemy, and he couldn't have possibly missed a chance like that if he hadn't made himself miss. His blow would've been devastating to the skinny structure of her physique if not fatal. Was it her magic? Impossible she couldn't possibly have that quick of a reaction time.

He pondered at these thoughts and possibilities for a moment and slowly dragged his arm out. Gasping in pain as more rocks impaled him and slashed at his flesh. He winced in pain at each little centimeter he gained from having his arm freed. Finally it was out and he watched as blood streamed down his arm and drip onto the floor, a small puddle forming. The pain stung and he felt his knees wiggle again and soon gave up on him. There he sat on his knees once more but now in front of the Queen of Changelings. He couldn't muster the courage nor the energy to look up at her but he did reply with "Nobody..."

Chrysalis had no time to dodge the blow he directed at her. Her eyes widened as she felt the power of his attack, his fist sweeping just past her nose and slamming straight into the stone. Her mouth hung open as she surveyed the damage he had just inflicted with just one hit. She took a quick step back as he pulled his arm free and collapsed. Then he spoke. Nononono that isn't possible! How could one person--? But she looked at the wall again and she knew he was telling the truth. Grudging respect swelled in her for someone who was just as powerful, if not moreso, than she at her most energised.

Her ears laid back again, and she spun her head to glare at him, eyes narrowed to slits. Why did he miss her? He easily could've hit her and dealt a mutilating blow. Suspicious, but still in awe and now beginning to be afraid, she backed away from him a few feet and just stared. What on earth could she do with him? She couldn't toss him back in the dungeon; he'd just break out again! Sh couldn't leabe him here either or let him go. He was too dangerous and she needed him besides. She'd known he was a strong asset to the Princess's army but she hadn't realised he was this strong. And there was still the mystery as to why he had intentionally missed her. It certainly was no accident.

Her eyes focused on him again and caught on the blood dribbling down his forearm. A wave of pity mingled with her respect. Knowing she wouldn't get anywhere by just sitting and thinking, she opted for the direct approach and asked, "Why didn't you hit me?"

Friendly Lunatic

Carlisle finally managed to look up at her with his greenish-blue eyes and noticed she stepped back a bit. He listened to her speak and then averted his eyes for a brief moment before looking back at her. He seemed to show affection to her even as a complete stranger and an enemy of war, he couldn't explain it. Carlisle opened his mouth "I don't want to hurt anybody, even when my opposition thinks otherwise, but when the lives of others comes into the picture I will do what needs to be done to ensure the survival of those I love...and there's something about you, something that I can't quite understand" he said as he looked down trying to poke at his reasoning.

His muscles tensed and he clenched his teeth as the pain kicked in some more. The pain was terrible and he could still feel slivers of stone inside his arm. He tried moving it but it just brought more pain so he just let it go limp. Returning his eyes back into hers he muttered "What will you do with me now?" Knowing he was powerless against her, he could run but he was too worn out and what good would that do if he was in a castle filled with changelings?

Carlisle needed assistance with his arm or he'd soon pass out because of blood loss, the puddle began to get bigger and he began to feel more fatigued and a tad lightheaded. "Please...I need your help, I'm losing blood" he reached out to her "Can't you...use your magic?" He pointed to her horn and then retracted his good arm.

Did she even care about his well being? Could she even feel emotions? From what he's heard she was a heartless robber of love. He honestly didn't understand her reasoning even if it were the truth, I guess this is actually payback for not paying attention all those times.

Chrysalis rallied herself, standing tall like a majestic queen should. She glared down at him while he talked, trying to regain her composure. AT his suggestion, she bent her head to heal him, but paused. Should she heal him? Weaker, he'd be easier to control. But she couldn't quite bring herself to leave him hurting so much either, for reasons she didn't understand. Then she noticed the anti-magic ring. She couldn't heal him even if she wanted to, not until it was removed. Staring pointedly at the ring around his neck, she replied, "I cannot. That collar prevents me from using magic on you, but I can have my medics attend your wounds." Assessing how heavily injured he was and how much blood he'd lost, she concluded that he wouldn't be able to walk up the stairs to the main level let alone all the way to medic's clinic. "And not a single guard to be found, the buffoons," she whispered. Sighing, she concentrated, and in a burst of green light she changed her form to that of a griffin. With a claw, she lifted him to her back and started walking. "I'll have to bring you to my chambers. There I can call the medic and have him attend to you. Do try not to bleed to death before we make it."

What am I going to do with him now? She couldn't let him die; he was possibly the difference between a potential loss and an easy win, if she could harness his power. But if she nursed him back to health, he could easily escape. His injuries were severe; could it be possible that he would never heal to full strength? Or could she ensure that he wouldn't? Just enough to help her but not enough to leave. Reflecting on his wounds however, she saw that that was hopeless. They were just flesh wounds and he could easily recover from them. But it would take time. And in that time, she felt confident she could decide on a plan of action.

The Fun Has Been Doubled

[OOC:How did the anti-magic ring get around his neck? Did Chrysalis put it there or has it been there a long time and he's just now able to see it?]

Friendly Lunatic

Carlisle had forgotten his garment...His heart sank, was there any hope to regain his right arm's full health? He was cut between thoughts by a sudden Griffin who had put him on its back. Confused for a few moments but then remembering he was with the Queen of Changelings who like every one of her subjects could transform into any other living creature. He settled, and gently hugged her back feeling more welcomed and comfortable. A small smile began to creep onto his face, small but noticeable. The soft fur of her Griffin form felt good against his soft skin, his fingers caressed her fur but kept his hand still and his wounded arm dangling over her side.

When he heard her reply he glanced at his injured arm and then at her "I'll try my best..." he joked weakly. He began to feel more comfortable around this Queen. Lifting his bad arm up with all he could and placed his semi-dry blooded hand on her shoulder and smiled "Queen Chrysalis..." he took a breath and exhaled the words "Thank you..." he said before his arm grew too tired to support the placement of his hand and fell back down to her side, swinging lightly like a pendulum.

She didn't seem like a heartless fiend after all, it was apparent that she cared enough to treat him instead of just cutting the arm off and saving her the trouble. Could he really mean something to her? No...ridiculous...how could the Kingdom's worst enemy be even in the slightest way fond of him. Hell he was still wondering if he embraced the thought of feeling that way towards her.
