It does, but you don't earn as much as if you play zOMG smile
it earns you as little as 300gold per hour haha
I don't really know for sure tho but I just played and got 290gold :/

Yes you get gold by using whistles(bonus attacks). You get between 100-250 gold per whistle.
Also you can get MC, you get a single mc randomly dropped after battle occassionally.
