I was thinking Paladin.

What is the best tanking class for a beginner in World of Warcraft?

Druid.

Reasoning:

1. Skill Rotation is simple (5 or 6 + cooldowns)
2. You can do all the different roles should you choose to not tank anymore
3. You are a freaking BEAR.
4. Awesome Self heals (primarily talent based)
5. Easy to level with instant travel forms/bird form when lvled high enough.
6. Leather gear so cheaper repair bills.

2nd would be DK

1) Even better self heals
2) Still fairly simple to play
c) You can still xmog and have it seen.
