I've found that the best way to describe a job is to do it in as few words and as boring as possible.

I had a job that required a secret clearance. God forbid you ever have a job like that. You quickly learn that your job is something much simpler, like "I work for the government" or "electrician."

There's also shitty jobs that may not go with other people's perceptions of you. Do you work in a porn store? You are now a "cashier. It's pretty boring."

For you, I'd just say "Adult caretaker."

That's a pretty good way to think of it.

My boyfriend works in a group home and he has to explain it a lot.
He works with a handicapped ex crack addict
He loves the pay the job is draining sometimes.
He's had to deal with a lot of s**t (literally speaking as well)

Oh I understand completely. Cleaning s**t is not fun.

I guess I can't complain at $9 an hour.

I got told that one of the guys there is called the "shitpacker"
He put his own s**t in the keyhole of the doorknob or w/e so they had to get someone to help replace it

And mixed like old spice and axe and his own s**t and shaved with it

I've had to explain my job to a few people now, when I say I work as a vet assistant in a vet clinic.

Lately I keep getting asked the same question. Do you get used to seeing animals euthanized. No, the answer is always no. You never 'get used' to it. I always tell people you take the bad with the good.
