First: I have and have had fursonas in the past, in that it was a character that in some capacity represented me on some level. I had a wolf named Luna I role played as and was an avatar in my art and drawings. Later I switched to 'Lady Zoe', a cat furry-thing based on a sprite character I made on a game. She has represented me in how people knew about me. They didnt know me as my real name, but as Zoe the weird kitty girl online. Afufu was used alot.

afufu.
Second: I think one goes "full furry" when they start associating with it as a way of life and personal culture, becoming part of the larger furry community and feeling a connection with that community on a deeper level. This could be dressing up or just feeling more "at home" with people who wear ears.
Some people see it as a way of living, a way of finding belongingness and closeness in their lives. Maybe they are sexually attracted to furs. I think it ultimately depends on the individual situation and whether they identify -themselves- as part of true furrydom.
Third: I think the sexual aspect of furries is a real thing. I feel people that go that far into furry are indeed truly a furry. Thats that deeper level I was referring to. I dont think its wrong, as there are a myriad other sexual fetishes out there. Some people are attracted to some race or another, some a different gender. maybe the same could be said of fur/non-fur. Its not something to be ashamed of, either way. If we were to say that sort of sexuality is wrong then we would be o better than those that say same sex relationships are bad or different races relationships.
Reading the discussion, I -do not- think Furrydom stems purely from a sexual desire/fetish. Everyone comes to furry in a different way through observations, experiences, opinions. I got into furry only because I loved Sonic the Hedgehog and its comics, and I began trying to mimic drawing those type of characters (furrry). In no way did the sexual aspect ever come into my mind, and I was only knowledgeable of that end of the spectrum after drawing those characters and going on the iternet. (I also clean RPed as my first character. But never went for the adult stuff.)
I myself do not identify as a furry personally. I had a fursona and I drew furries but that was about it. But who is to say someone with the same experiences as me could take it one step further and become a furry without any sort of sexual fetish forming from it? Its all dependent on the induvidual. Theres no standard furry introduction. We come to it in our own ways.
