Beloved Phantom

"I'm afraid we can't leave as planned," Matthew said as he stepped forward from the shadows. Pushing his glasses up his nose, he nodded to Alison's crib. "She needs medical care."
Alice held Alison tightly against her. "But...we can't stay...they will separate us."

Beloved Phantom

Matthew just nodded. "But if we leave, there is a chance that Alison may die. I've read the reports. It's not good, Alice."
Alice looked down at Alison. Slowly, she placed her back in the bassinet with tears pouring over her small body. She hooked the machines back to her then stepped back. She had no choice...she had to leave Alison behind. If she stayed, she would never see Alison again, but if she ran, there was a chance that she could come back for Alison. She covered her mouth to muffle her cries, but it was so hard. After all this time, after all the fighting to keep her...she had to give her up anyways.

Beloved Phantom

Matthew's heart was breaking as pulled Alice into his chest. Staring down at their baby girl fast asleep, he wondered what she would do when she woke up only to find that they weren't there. Would she think that they abandoned her? That they didn't love her? "I'm sorry," he whispered, even though he knew she couldn't hear it.
Alice broke down. She buried her face in Matthew's chest. Of all the things for her to lose, why did it have to be her daughter too? She took one last look at Alison then kissed her forehead. She had nothing to give her, nothing to let her know that she would come back for her. She wouldn't even remember Alice... She only prayed that someone would love her unconditionally like Alice would have.

Beloved Phantom

"Hey guys, the police are starting to get spooked," Brian told them.

Matthew pulled Alice closed as he started to leave her out. "Come on," he whispered. He didn't want to leave her there, but he didn't want her to die either. At least here they could give her the proper treatment she requires.
"I love you," Alice whispered to Alison then rushed off with Matthew. Her heart was broken beyond repair. She had lost her parents. She had lost Wonderland. She had lost her Hatter. And now, she had lost her daughter. Suddenly she stopped and looked at the top hat in her hand. It was all she had left of the Hatter. Turning back, she placed the hat in the bassinet with Alison. "Please...protect her..." she begged then returned to Matthew.

Beloved Phantom

Three sets of eyes watched as Matthew and Alice made their escape. Was this the final adventure for Alice? In Wonderland, perhaps, in life? No. She still had an entire story book to fill, and already the sequel was at hand.

A fanged grin and whimsical eyes watched over Alison, a worrisome clock ticked furiously as another bounced about, and the final set reached down and took the hat from the crib, gently placing it on his head as he watched her leave. "We will," he promised.
Two months later, Alison was set up for adoption. Her new parents waited with the doctor as a blond nurse was sent to get the baby. When the nurse never showed, baby Alison went missing. It was later said that the blond nurse with sea blue eyes walked out the front door with a three month old baby girl. Witnesses said she had a cat like smile on her face as she got into a car with three men.
